The case of twelve year old girl with double uterus, unilateral vaginal obstruction and ipsilateral renal agenesis is described. Excision of the imperforate vaginal septum resulted in drainage of the hematometrosalpingocolpos and complete disappearance of the large pelvic-abdominal mass. Such a mass in normally menstruating women may detract from the true diagnosis. Awareness of this relatively rare condition is the mainstay of prompt diagnosis which will prevent unnecessary and destructive surgery.

We studied changes in the levels of inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmitters in female rat brain structures during different phases of the estrous cycle in health and after creation of a cobalt epileptogenic focus at stage I of epileptogenic system development. The most pronounced shifts were found in the contralateral cortex, where the levels of GABA and glycine decreased significantly during the diestrus-2 phase (corresponding to menstruation), which attests to a convulsive threshold decrease during this period.

Imperforate hymen is a rare congenital malformation to present with symptoms in the neonatal period. We present a case of a 5-day-old neonate with a marked interlabial swelling causing urinary retention. Imaging revealed hydrometrocolpos, hydrosalpinx, and bilateral hydronephrosis. Additionally, our patient had polydactyly of both feet and hands, and laryngocele that have not been previously described in literature. Hymenectomy is the mainstay of management to prevent the development of hematocolpos, pain, and possible retrograde menstruation.

Cyclical hematuria is an unusual presentation of a müllerian fusion anomaly. We report a patient with transverse vaginal septum and menstruation by way of the lower urinary tract because of a vesical-vaginal communication. A defect of vertical fusion, transverse vaginal septum results from failure of canalization of the vaginal plate. Reconstruction using a transvaginal and transabdominal approach created a direct anastomosis between the proximal vaginal segment and the distal vaginal pouch. Previously described cases are reviewed.

We evaluated the results of united treatment (thermocoagulation and nafarelin acetate) of the node type of endometriosis) among women with pain syndrome in pelvis minoris. During the treatment we observed withdrawal of pain in lower abdomen among 60% of patients and assuagement in remaining cases. During the treatment by Synarel the menses were absent together with complaints connected with menstruation. The efficacy of the drug together with surgical intervention was many times higher then that of thermocoagulation alone.

We report a case of a vesicouterine fistula with menouria (vesical menstruation) secondary to an intrauterine contraceptive device. Of the 23 cases of menouria reported previously 21 occurred after cesarean section, 1 was secondary to a traumatic forceps delivery and 1 was owing to infection. In our case the fistula did not close after removal of the perforated intrauterine contraceptive device and 2 months of catheter drainage. Closure was achieved by excision of the fistula and hysterectomy.

Toxic-shock syndrome (TSS), a severe multisystem febrile illness caused by S. aureus, occurs in a wide variety of clinical settings. Although the majority of reported cases in the United States continue to be associated with menstruation and tampon use, TSS also occurs in postpartum women and in patients with infected surgical wounds, cutaneous and subcutaneous infections, and infections at other body sites.
