Nurses' Scope of Practice in Home-Based Care: An Observational Study of Care Activities, Clinical Decision-Making, and Contextual Modulators-The DECIDE Project.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Nurses' scope of practice is central to healthcare delivery. While scope of practice is well described conceptually, there is limited empirical research capturing how it is enacted in everyday clinical practice. This study aimed to describe scope of practice in home-based care, focusing on care activities, clinical decision-making, professional autonomy and contextual modulators. DESIGN: A multi-method observational design. SETTING: Three nursing teams within home healthcare services in a Norwegian municipality-the DECIDE project. METHODS: Quantitative and qualitative da

Multilevel determinants of early childhood health during the first 1,000 days in Saudi Arabia: a scoping review with implications for nursing practice and policy.

BACKGROUND: The first 1,000 days—from conception through 24 months of age—represent a critical and largely irreversible developmental window that shapes child survival, brain architecture, metabolic programming, and lifelong health trajectories. Despite substantial global investment in early childhood development, significant knowledge gaps persist regarding context-specific implementation strategies, particularly in rapidly developing healthcare systems. This scoping review maps determinants of health and development in the first 1,000 days and identifies implications for nursing practice and

Establishing the "North Star" for Clinical Education to Accelerate Practice Readiness: Implications for Leaders, Faculty, Educators, Nursing Professional Development Practitioners, and Preceptors.

Ambiguity and confusion persist around the goal and purpose of clinical experiences in nursing education. As a result of this ambiguity and confusion, the potential exists to waste valuable clinical time, to create ineffective learning objectives, to focus on the tasks of nursing rather than the competencies required for nursing practice, and to perpetuate a mismatch of in-person clinical experiences with simulation decreasing the ability to achieve clinical practice readiness. Nurse leaders across academia, regulation and accreditation agencies, and practice settings must establish consensus

Experiences and attitudes towards agitated behaviours in TBI ICU patients (EXSTATIC): understanding various management practices through qualitative interviews with nurses.

INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES: Agitation is a common complication after an acute TBI in ICU patients. Professionals have a range of strategies to address agitation. Yet the absence of evidence-based guidelines and how these strategies are implemented complicates the management and safety may often be compromised for both ICU professionals and patients. This project explores experiences and attitudes of ICU-nurses to better understand the management of agitated behaviors in acute TBI-patients. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 ICU-nurses from two Level-1 trauma centers in

Content validity, practicality and testing of the reliability of various tools for the detection and screening of delirium in residents with dementia in German nursing homes: a study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Although individuals with dementia who reside in nursing homes are particularly susceptible to developing delirium, this condition is rarely recognised in these settings. Detection of delirium requires validated and reliable tools for this setting that can be applied by nursing staff. The primary objective of the study is to assess the comprehensibility, practicality and inter-rater reliability of two delirium detection tools (4 A's test (4AT) and 4-item delirium superimposed on dementia (4-DSD)) and one tool for assessing both the diagnosis and severity of delirium (Delirium Rat

Harm reduction nursing and the path toward developing best practice: Lessons from caring for people with xylazine-associated wounds in Philadelphia, PA.

Xylazine-associated wounds are a distinct, novel clinical entity characterized by co-occurrence with substance use, progressive necrosis of skin, muscle, tendon, and bone, and slow healing. In Philadelphia, the specter of limb loss, stigma, and shame has hung over hospital-based care for xylazine-associated wounds among people who use drugs (PWUD) and kept many people away from engaging in care. Continued engagement in harm reduction wound care nursing, however, offers an opportunity for PWUD to address their wounds and their fears with members of the medical world. In the absence of establish

Knowledge, attitude, and practice toward delirium and subtype assessment among Chinese clinical nurses and determinant factors: A multicentre cross-section study.

BACKGROUND: Delirium, a confused transient state of consciousness, can be divided into hyperactive, hypoactive, mixed, and no motor subtypes, according to different clinical manifestations. Several studies have investigated delirium subtypes in the knowledge dimension, but few studies have investigated delirium subtype in the attitude and practice dimensions. The barriers, knowledge sources, and practice details regarding subtype assessment are unclear. OBJECTIVES: This study had three objectives. First, we planned to investigate the KAP status regarding delirium and subtypes for nurses. Seco

Practice nurse-supported weight self-management delivered within the national child immunisation programme for postnatal women: a feasibility cluster RCT.

BACKGROUND: Pregnancy is a high-risk time for excessive weight gain. The rising prevalence of obesity in women, combined with excess weight gain during pregnancy, means that there are more women with obesity in the postnatal period. This can have adverse health consequences for women in later life and increases the health risks during subsequent pregnancies. OBJECTIVE: The primary aim was to produce evidence of whether or not a Phase III trial of a brief weight management intervention, in which postnatal women are encouraged by practice nurses as part of the national child immunisation progra
