A 55-year-old man was incidentally diagnosed with a superficial squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus. However, the systemic survey with FDG PET/CT revealed a picture of more advanced disease because of the regional lymph node metastases and a suspected distal metastasis in the left renal pelvis, which was somewhat strange for a small superficial esophageal cancer. Subsequently, the renal pelvic lesion was confirmed as squamous cell carcinoma. However, a primary tumor rather than metastasis in the renal pelvis was considered according to the histologic characteristics and radiologic findings.

Cystic nephroma is a relatively rare and benign renal lesion of uncertain etiology. Approximately 200 cases have been described, but only a few cases of cystic nephroma with prominent renal pelvis involvement have been reported. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this article is to present the route of extension in nine soft-tissue tumors and tumorlike lesions of the pelvic wall.
CONCLUSION: Soft-tissue tumors of the pelvis, particularly malignant ones, extend into other compartments through specific pathways that are bordered by bones, ligaments, and fasciae. Such pathways include the greater sciatic foramen, the obturator foramen, the femoral canal, the muscular lacuna, the pelvic outlet, and the inguinal canal.

Primary malignant tumors of the renal pelvis are relatively rare with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) accounting for 0.7% to 7%. We present a case of a 58-year-old male with huge hydronephrosis on the left side where histology of the resected specimen showed features of SCC. There was no evidence of renal calculi or other predisposing factors. The case highlights the rarity of the tumor in the absence of calculi, as well as the importance of a careful study of a gross specimen and histologic sections in every case of hydronephrosis.

Osteomalacia is a metabolic bone disease in a mature individual, caused by lack of vitamin D or its active metabolites, on account of a number of factors. Osteomalacia is common in females and in countries with less sun shine. It typically presents with body aches, weakness, alongwith signs of bone tenderness and proximal myopathy. Diagnosis is made on the basis of clinical presentation and investigations; serum calcium, phosphorus, serum alkaline phosphates, 24 hour urine for calcium and phosphorus and skeletal radiology.

We report a case of botryoid Wilms' tumor that occupied the renal pelvis and extended into the bladder. A 3-year-old boy was referred to us with a chief complaint of gross hematuria and micturition pain. Computed tomography showed tumor occupying the right renal pelvis and ureter and extending into the bladder. Right radical nephroureterectomy was performed. We present here an original mini-invasive anterior retroperitoneal approach the pelvic retroperitoneum, which was successful in a 26-year-old woman who had a benign schwannoma of the left sacral plexus. This technique presents advantages over other techniques that were considered in this case, as the least invasive and safest procedure.
