Current trends in patient-reported outcome measures for clavicle fractures: a focused systematic review of 11 influential orthopaedic journals.

BACKGROUND: Many patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have been used to follow clavicle fractures, providing an objective means to track outcomes. However, lack of standardization of PROM usage makes cross-study comparison difficult. Therefore, we reviewed articles on clavicle fractures from 11 of the most influential orthopedic journals to assess trends in PROM usage over time and based on geographic location. METHODS: A focused systematic review of 11 of the most influential orthopedic journals was performed using PubMed. All articles published between 1981 and 2020 with greater than 9

Scientific collaboration in Zika: identification of the leading research groups and researchers via social network analysis.

The association between Zika and microcephaly drew international attention to Brazil. The emergency situation demanded speed and collective effort by researchers worldwide, and Science was quick to investigate the disease and publish the results. Scientific knowledge was created and disseminated through collaboration in this process. Publications are still the best way of disseminating scientific knowledge. They allow to record progress in a field of studies and observe how scientists collaborate to produce advances as new knowledge and technologies are generated. An effective way to map such

Prevalence of heart disease demonstrated in 60 years of the Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia.

Considering the historical and academic relevance of the Brazilian Archives of Cardiology (ABC), as its MEDLINE indexing began in 1950, it was assumed as a hypothesis that the analysis of the publications over the last 60 years could reflect the changing trends of heart disease in Brazil. The study data were collected using a program developed for this purpose, allowing the automatic extraction of information from the MEDLINE database. The study information were collected by searching "Brazilian Archives of Cardiology AND selected parameter in English". Four observational groups were determine

Rapid assessment procedure for loiasis and mapping lymphatic filariasis: two perfect illustrations of "to be in English or not to be".

Interest in filariasis has found a new impetus now that neglected tropical diseases have their own journal. However, some of the advances published in renowned international journals have completely ignored previous publications on the subject, particularly those in languages other than English. The rapid assessment procedure for loiasis and the mapping of lymphatic filariasis provide two perfect illustrations of this. This problem may seem a bit outdated, given that all "good authors" now publish exclusively in English. It certainly is outdated for most areas of medicine. But, surely, this sh

Early postoperative management of DBS in dystonia: programming, response to stimulation, adverse events, medication changes, evaluations, and troubleshooting.

Early postoperative management in deep brain stimulation-treated patients with dystonia differs from that of patients with essential tremor and Parkinson's disease, mainly due to the usually delayed effects of deep brain stimulation and the heterogenous clinical manifestation and etiologies of dystonia. The present chapter summarizes the available data about and concentrates on practical clinical aspects of early postoperative management in deep brain stimulation-treated patients with dystonia.
