Guinea pigs exposed via the respiratory route to Ascaris suum extract in aerosol form became hypersensitive. The hypersensitivity was detectable by inhalational bronchial provocation testing using a noninvasive plethysmography, by chopped lung histamine release, and by passive cutaneous anaplylaxis. It is demonstrated that previously described PDF1-A antigens from pigeon dropping extract contain pigeon IgA. The sera of patients with pigeon breeders' disease contain precipitating antibodies against pigeon IgA, in contrast to the sera of pigeon breeders suffering from unrelated forms of pulmonary dysfunction. The degree of complement consumption by PDF1A antigens, pigeon serum, and pigeon IgA turned out to be correlated. No correlation was found between precipitating anti-pigeon IgA antibodies and complement consumption by pigeon IgA in patients' sera.

The antigenic and allergenic properties of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and whole bee venom were compared by measuring the IgG and IgE antibody responses in animals and man. Radioimmunnoassay was used to determine the serologic subspecificities of 85 blood donor serums positive for hepatitis B virus-associated antigen. There was complete agreement with results obtained by immunoprecipitatiotn of 43 serums. The remaining 42 serums were negative by immunoprecipitation but followed type-specific immunology by radioimmunoassay, and this served as a validation for authentic hepatitis B virus antigen.

Glycoprotein (Gp)IIb/IIIa molecules have been immunoprecipitated from platelets and leukocytes of cattle, goat, horse, human, sheep and swine using specific monoclonal antibodies. The sulfo-NHS-biotin (sulfosuccinimidobiotin) method used to label the proteins has been found unsuitable for labelling the beta chain of the ruminant GPIIb/IIIa molecule.
