Human health practitioners and wildlife biologists use insecticides to manage plague by suppressing fleas (Siphonaptera), but insecticides can also kill other ectoparasites. We investigated effects of deltamethrin and fipronil on ectoparasites from black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus, BTPDs). Patients with inherited thrombocytopenias often require platelet transfusions to raise their platelet count before surgery or other invasive procedures; moreover, subjects with clinically significant spontaneous bleeding may benefit from an enduring improvement of thrombocytopenia. The hypothesis that thrombopoietin-mimetics can increase platelet count in inherited thrombocytopenias is appealing, but evidence is scarce. OBJECTIVES: Myelofibrosis (MF) is a severe disease, with decreased life expectancy and heavy symptom burden. Ruxolitinib is the only approved pharmacotherapy for the treatment of MF patients. Some europium complexes with pyrazolone derivatives and 1,10-phenanthroline were synthesized and characterized. Standard treatment options for B cell malignancies include immunochemotherapies and/or targeted therapies, which often provide temporary disease remission. However, many patients do not achieve complete remission with these treatments, develop resistance, and eventually experience disease relapse.
