We encountered three cases of multiple liver metastases of colorectal cancer treated with hepatic resection after hepatic arterial infusion. Case 1: A 55-year-old female underwent sigmoidectomy for sigmoid colon cancer and six liver metastases. After responding postoperatively to hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HIA), she underwent resection of liver metastases. A case of successive metachronous colorectal cancers repeatedly resected 5 times during an 8-year period is reported. The 1st cancer was found in the sigmoid colon when the patient (male) was 32 years old. The 2nd was a mucosal carcinoma of the rectum which was locally excised. The 3rd was found in the ascending colon, and there was detected yet another small cancer in the adenoma in the resected specimen. Colorectal neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) are rare malignancies with unclear boundaries and poor prognoses. Adjuvant postoperative radiation therapy has been suggested for adenocarcinoma of the rectum and sigmoid colon to reduce the incidence of local recurrences. Determination of this incidence is necessary to optimally employ such adjuvant therapies. Radiation therapy combined with some anti-cancer drugs was performed in a total of 79 patients with carcinoma of the rectum and sigmoid colon, consisting of 41 primary, 25 recurrent and 13 postoperatively irradiated ones. UNLABELLED: In this work we describe the case report of a woman affected by cancer of the sigmoid colon and with a positive direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and indirect antiglobulin test (IAT). Case report with results: A meticulous medical history showed that the woman had been suffering from recurrent fetal loss. Then she had cardiac and coagulative problems. These data suggested a phospholipid syndrome.
CONCLUSION: The patient had a medical history positive for a phospholipid syndrome and we think that this disease could explain the onset of the autoantibody.
