PURPOSE: This retrospective study measured the increase in bone tissue using the transcrestal maxillary sinus floor elevation with injectable xenogeneic bone substitute in gel form with simultaneous implant placement. This procedure allows elevation of the sinus floor atraumatically, reducing the risk of perforation of the Schneiderian membrane.
METHODS: 52 subjects needing unilateral sinus floor elevation, with a residual crestal height from 2 mm to 5 mm, and a request for at least one implant-prosthetic rehabilitation in the posterior maxillary area were enrolled. Transcrestal maxillary sin

PURPOSE: The aim of this pilot study was to compare three surgical techniques (bicortical fixation, unicortical fixation, and indirect sinus elevation) for implant placement in the posterior maxilla with limited alveolar bone height. This 2-year follow-up assessment on the implants of a previously published prospective clinical trial compared (1) restoration/implant stability among the three surgical groups, (2) intrasinus bone formation between the bicortical fixation and indirect sinus elevation groups, and (3) implant and prosthetic complications reported among the three groups.

In this study we sought to investigate the influence of antral pseudocysts on the raising of the transcrestal sinus floor. We retrospectively studied two groups (test group: those with antral pseudocysts, and controls: those with normal Schneiderian membranes). The crestal approach with simultaneous placement of implants was used for all patients. Cone-beam computed tomography was done before, immediately afterwards, and 4-6 months postoperatively. Nineteen participants (16 male, three female, mean (SD) age 48 (10) years) were enrolled in the test group, and 73 (38 male, 35 female, 44 (11) yea

RATIONALE: In this case study, a modified transcrestal approach was applied to the patient of extremely atrophic posterior maxilla. We analysis the Implant Stability Quotient values (ISQ) to monitor implant stability, and the cone-beam computer tomography (CBCT) to evaluate the bone regeneration.
PATIENT CONCERN: A 26-year-old female patient visited our hospital with no contraindications for dental implants and a loss of the maxillary right first molar.
DIAGNOSE: Examination by CBCT demonstrated the posterior maxilla was extremely atrophic, the residual bone height (RBH) of #16 was 3.5 mm.

Bone islands in the maxillary sinus are rare, and no established guidelines exist for implant surgery in their presence. This case report presents an approach to implant surgery utilizing bone islands in the maxillary sinus. In this case, we utilized the bone island, performed osteotome sinus floor elevation combined with concentrated growth factor (CGF), and simultaneously inserted a Straumann Soft Tissue Level implant for a 56-year-old male patient. Based on 1-year follow-up examinations and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, the approach yielded favorable outcomes. Utilizing bone

BACKGROUND: Partial edentulism in the posterior maxilla is frequently complicated by alveolar bone resorption and maxillary sinus pneumatization, limiting implant placement and negatively affecting oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). Minimally invasive sinus augmentation techniques, such as CAS KIT-assisted indirect sinus elevation, aim to reduce surgical morbidity; however, evidence regarding patient-reported outcomes and quality of life following such interventions remains limited.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate oral health-related quality of life and patient-reported outcomes following i

BACKGROUND: Collagenated bovine bone mineral (CBBM) is used for maxillary sinus elevation-based augmentation. We compared collagen degradation in cross-linked (CL) CBBM and non-cross-linked (NCL) CBBM (in vitro) and preclinical results in CBBM-CL, CBBM-NCL, deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM), and DBBM with fibrin sealant grafts (in vivo) after repair of perforated Schneiderian membrane (SM).
METHODS: Collagenase-based degradation rates of CBBM-CL and CBBM-NCL were compared in vitro and in vivo (CBBM-CL, CBBM-NCL, DBBM, and DBBM with fibrin glue; n = 12 defects per group). After bilatera

INTRODUCTION: Different protocols and procedures for sinus lift and implant placement are available, generally involving the use of grafts to increase the tissue volume and/or prevent the Schneiderian membrane from collapsing. Among xenografts, deproteinised bovine bone graft (DBBP) is frequently used in sinus lift procedures. Leaving an ungrafted space following membrane elevation has proven to have a bony regenerative potential as well. This study aimed to compare the clinical and histological features of sinus lift surgery performed with or without biomaterials.
METHODS: Patients with seve
