METHODS: Bromoform in the air was adsorbed by activated carbon tube sampling and solvent desorption using carbon disulfide, then analyed by GC with DB-FFAP capillary column.

Chaperonin GroEL is a complex oligomeric heat shock protein (Hsp60) assisting the correct folding and assembly of other proteins in the cell. An intriguing question is how GroEL folds itself. We present calculations for the mechanism of S(N)2 reactions in ethylene glycol, focusing on the role of two protic functional groups (-OH) in the solvent molecule. We find that some hydroxyl groups act as Lewis base to interact with the cation, whereas others affect the reaction as Lewis acid to the nucleophile. We predict that the nucleophile (F-) reacts as an ion pair rather than as a solvent-separated ion when metal cation (Cs+) is used as a counterion. Based on experimental zinc blende and wurtzite models of CdSe nanocrystals, four clusters of CdSe, seven Se-Cd-ligand structures, and their characters are studied at DFT/B3LYP/Lanl2dz theoretical level. Cd(3)Se(3), (Cd(3)Se(3))(2) and (Cd(3)Se(3))(3) clusters which have a ring with six atoms are similar to wurtzite structures, Cd(4)Se(4) have resemblant conformation with zinc blende for they are all composed of tetrahedron. Solid dispersions of spironolactone (SPI) with porous silica (Sylysia 730 and Sylysia 350) were prepared by the solvent method. In this study an education, and a series of group sessions for patients with solvent-induced chronic toxic encephalopathy (TE) and their spouses are evaluated. Thirty-eight patients and 21 family members participated in a 1-day education scheduled with short lectures on the clinical examination of chronic toxic encephalopathy and the prognosis. The effect of organic solvent on the structure and dynamics of proteins was investigated by multiple molecular dynamics simulations (1 ns each) of Candida rugosa lipase in water and in carbon tetrachloride.
