Phakoanaphylactic endophthalmitis is a rare but deleterious complication of surgical, traumatic, or spontaneous lens capsule perforation. The aim of the study was to report the effects of surgical treatment of three victims of a cluster munition in Ukraine. Uveal melanoma is extremely rare in children. Its clinical and histopathological features have been reported to be similar to those observed in adults. The tumor usually presents as a sessile or dome-shaped mass with secondary nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachment. We report a 19-month-old boy with a choroidal melanoma presenting as hemorrhagic retinal detachment and buphthalmos. The eye was enucleated, but the child subsequently died from systemic metastases.

PURPOSE: To provide a detailed immunohistochemical analysis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)-associated anterior uveitis.
DESIGN: Interventional case report.
PARTICIPANT: One patient.
INTERVENTION: A 12-year-old patient had recurrent pauciarticular JIA and smoldering anterior uveitis in the right eye. Despite treatment with local and systemic corticosteroids and an anti-tumor necrosis factor agent, the right eye became hypotonous and painful and eventually was enucleated. The clinical history and histopathologic and immunohistochemical analyses of the enucleated globe were reviewed.

From 1964 to 1976 a number of 131 patients, suffering from melanoma of the choroid have been treated with 106Ru/106Rh beta-ray applicators. This study was undertaken to investigate measured levator function in anophthalmic patients, and to determine how measured values are related to prosthesis size.

We describe a patient with dysplastic nevus syndrome and cutaneous melanoma in whom vitreous involvement was the first sign of metastatic disease. Cytologic examination of vitreous aspirate can usually confirm the diagnosis. Enucleation may be a treatment option if the vitreous is the sole metastatic site.

Eight African hedgehogs (Atelerix albiventris) were presented with unilateral proptosis. Six animals presented specifically for an ocular problem, whereas two had concurrent neurologic disease.
