Wasp and bee stings can lead to allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, Kounis syndrome, toxicity, organ failure and, in rare cases, cardiac arrest. In the Netherlands, fatal complications as a result of wasp or bee stings are rare; here we describe three recent severe cases. We diagnosed two patients with anaphylactic shock due to multiple wasp stings, resulting in cardiac arrest and death. Prophylaxis for pulmonary embolism (PE) prevention in total knee arthroplasty remains controversial. A joint registry evaluated venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and anesthesia impact on the incidence of PE, fatal PE, and death. Botulism is a paralytic illness caused by the action of a neurotoxin elaborated by Clostridium botulinum. Other clostridial bacteria, like C.butyricum and C.baratii can also produce the toxin leading to signs and symptoms of botulism. We report a case of pyometra without any related risk factor. This leads to a severe septic shock. Evolution was successful because of quick surgical management.
