A juvenile male common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) was examined as part of a long-term dolphin research and monitoring program in Sarasota Bay, Florida. We evaluated associations between total mercury (Hg) concentrations in blood and skin and endocrine, hepatic, renal, and hematological parameters in free-ranging bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Dolphins in Indian River Lagoon, FL had higher concentrations of Hg in blood (0.67 μg/l wet wt) and skin (7.24 μg/g dry wt) compared with those from Charleston Harbor, SC (0.15 μg/l wet wt, 1.68 μg/g dry wt). In 2018, the first 22q11.2 multidisciplinary program in the state of Florida was created at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital following the new paradigm for best care of 22q11.2 deletion patients. Since inauguration, the clinic flourished despite challenges. Our 22q clinic has 149 patients ranging from ages 0-21. UNLABELLED: Background Limited information suggests that men who have sex with men (MSM) are informally obtaining antiretroviral medication (ARVs) and using them for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
METHODS: Data are drawn from an on-going study examining the use of non-prescribed ARVs for PrEP.
