Although implant placement is regarded as a safe procedure, some reports about displacement or migration to the maxillary cavity have been published. Further migration to other paranasal cavities and spontaneous loss are rare events. A case is reported of a migration to the inferior nasal meatus, which is documented by cone-beam CT, with subsequent spontaneous loss. Mucociliary clearance in combination with a local osteolytic inflammatory process likely caused this unusual migration.

The inferior vena cava (IVC) filter insertion is a well established procedure to prevent significant pulmonary embolism in selected situations. It is generally considered straight forward without significant complications. We report an interesting case of a young postpartum woman in whom an IVC filter was misplaced in the right gonadal vein. This complication is only rarely reported. Presence of prominent right gonadal vein must always be kept in mind during trans-jugular placement of infra renal filter in the IVC in post partum women.

BACKGROUND: Foreign body aspiration is rare in adults. However, in recent years, the aspiration of pins which are used for securing turbans (headscarves) is seen frequently in young women. The aim of this article was to review 105 patients who were admitted to our hospital for turban pin aspiration.
METHODS: Chest X-rays were used for diagnosis. Various methods of treatment were performed: laryngoscopy in 6 patients, flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy in 16, rigid bronchoscopy in 93, and thoracotomy in one patient, while in the other patient the turban pin was spontaneously expectorated.

This report describes problems arising after an arthroscopic meniscal refixation using the biodegradable Clearfix screw system (Innovasive Devices, Marlborough, MA). A serious problem arose in the form of migration of a meniscal screw that had been inserted in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Dislocation of the screw led to pain on the medial aspect of the knee joint and irritation of the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve. The case reported here is a first analysis of the potential complications associated with the use of this meniscal refixation system.

About a series of 33 patients operated in the ENT Depart. Prof. Soudant-La Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital-Paris. Any emphasis was put on 11 cases of aspergillosis sinusitis. Most of the time, clinical signs are non specific. But X rays studies are of great help for the diagnosis. Treatment of chronic sinusitis of dental origin, particularly aspergillosis, remains surgical: caldwell-luc operation or endonasal approach. As a conclusion, the authors suggest systematic removal of all intrasinusal foreign body.

RATIONALE: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) surgery, a common neurosurgical procedure for hydrocephalus, carries risks of complications such as shunt obstruction and infection. Migration of the shunt into the mediastinum, however, is an uncommon complication, particularly in adults.

This report describes the ingestion of a dislodged Somatex Intrauterine Stent by the fetus. At 35 weeks one shunt was visualized in the fetal stomach, suggesting that the fetus had swallowed it.
