This study of 347 urban, self-identified lesbian (n = 289) and bisexual (n = 58) women examined women's engaging in 4 kinky sexual behaviors: bondage/domination, sadomasochism, photo/video exhibitionism, and asphyxiation/breath play. It has been claimed that the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is significantly higher in lesbian compared with heterosexual women. In a recent case, artificial insemination was employed by a couple in an attempt to ensure the birth of a deaf child. In response to this, I argue that individuals should not be allowed to select for or against deafness. While I establish that preferences for deaf children can be inherently just, allowing individuals to secure these preferences may have unacceptable consequences for existing persons who are deaf. I show that these follow even granting this couple's contestable understanding of the deaf as a minority group.

A lesbian couple in a monogamous relationship each presented with vaginal discharge demonstrable on culture to contain Trichomonas vaginalis. Their symptoms had failed to respond to standard regimens of metronidazole, and subsequent microbiological sensitivities confirmed resistance of the trichomonads to metronidazole (minimum inhibitory concentrations in aerobic conditions > 8 mcg/ml).
