Reinke's oedema is a disease which is characterized by oedema of the vocal cords. Women in middle age are particularly prone to this disease … not, so far as we know, been documented. We have found it interesting to observe the effects of BDP inhalation aerosol and placebo in the course of a four-week double-blind randomized trial treatment of Reinke's oedema.

Little is known concerning industrial exposure conditions which lead to development of allergic sensitivity in exposed workers. This study investigated the relationship between exposure concentration and the induction of antibodies and sensitivity in a guinea pig animal model for inhalation exposure to isocyanates (Karol et al., Toxicol. The effect of nifedipine (20 mg sublingually) on the bronchial response to cold air was studied in eight asthmatic patients and eight normal subjects. A study was designed to determine the usefulness of cold air inhalation challenge testing in children with asthma and to determine the magnitude and duration of the response. A neuroadapted strain of measles virus (HNT) was administered by inhalation to newborn hamsters. Primary replication of virus in the lung was followed by the transient appearance of virus in spleen within 7 to 9 days of inoculation. A terminal encephalitis occurred between 6 and 60 days in 31% of infected hamsters, and virus was recovered by explant culture of these brains. To examine the effects of an increased oxygen supply on the establishment of noise-induced TTS in humans, 20 Ss were exposed for 10 min to a … with no noise exposure; there was no effect on the hearing threshold levels. It was concluded that inhalation of at least 90% oxygen-air for 10 min does not affect HTLs but does reduce TTS. Pure trichloroethylene (tri), stabilized by an amine base, was administered by inhalation at 0, 100, and 500 ppm for 6 h/day, 5 days/week, for 18 months to mice, rats and Syrian hamsters of both sexes. In this study we determined airborne concentrations of Halon 1301 (CBrF3) and the associated blood levels which produce cardiac arrhythmias in dogs. Beagle dogs were exposed by inhalation to Halon 1301 concentrations ranging from 5 to 20% and, after five minutes of exposure, were given epinephrine by intravenous injection (8--10 micrograms/kg). A rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta), accidentally exposed to vapors of methyl methacrylate for 22 hours was found in a comatose condition. Attempts to revive the animal were unsuccessful. Male CF-1 mice (24 to 34 gm.) were exposed to either 250 p.p.m. or 1000 p.p.m. of 1,1,1-trichloroethane in air continuously for 14 weeks. Control mice were exposed to room air. Serial sacrifice of exposed and control mice from 1 to 14 weeks demonstrated significant changes in the centrilobular hepatocytes of animals in the 1000 p.p.m. group.
