The goal of treatment for supraglottic cancer is to achieve cure and to preserve laryngeal function. Organ preservation strategies include both endoscopic and open surgical approaches as well as radiation and chemotherapy. The challenge is to select the correct modalities for each patient. Endoscopic procedures should be limited to tumors that can be completely visualized during diagnostic microlaryngoscopy. OBJECTIVE: To discuss the indications, surgical technique and complications of CO2 laser in the treatment of glottic cancer.
METHODS: Sixty cases of glottic cancer (T1 = 52, T2 = 8) operated with CO2 laser between 2003 and 2006 were retrospectively analyzed.

INTRODUCTION: Thorascopic sympathectomy is accepted as an effective treatment for palmar hyperhidrosis, facial blushing and to a lesser extent for digital ischaemia and axillary hyperhidrosis.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Data were collected retrospectively on patients undergoing thorascopic sympathectomy at St Peter's Hospital between 1987 and 2006. Patients were followed up by telephone interview.

PURPOSE: To compare conventional argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT) with selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in terms of their efficiency in lowering the intra-ocular pressure.
METHODS: In this retrospective study, 56 eyes from 44 patients with primary open angle glaucoma, ocular hypertension, pseudo-exfoliative (PXF) or pigment dispersion glaucoma (PDG) were included. Patients underwent either ALT (n=18) or SLT (n=38). The intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured immediately prior to and 3 to 5 weeks after the theraPY.

A 61-year-old woman presented with photophobia, pain, epiphora, and decreased vision as a result of two iatrogenic corneal perforations sustained during carbon dioxide laser blepharoplasty. The management and course of the case are outlined. Laser blepharoplasty complications are reviewed. This case highlights the potential occurrence of corneal penetration with laser blepharoplasty. Meticulous awareness of the laser effects on periocular tissue must be kept in mind at all times during laser blepharoplasty to avoid unnecessary intraocular side effects and undesirable postoperative outcomes.
