Influence of Photobiomodulation Therapy Combined with Pelvic Floor Exercises on Postpartum Coccydynia: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate whether the addition of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) to pelvic floor exercises (PFEs) is more effective in treating postpartum coccydynia compared with either modality alone. Background: Postpartum coccydynia is a widespread condition that significantly affects the quality of life. Inflammation as a response to childbirth trauma and weakening of the muscles and ligaments attached to the coccyx are presumed causes of postpartum coccydynia. Finding effective modalities to manage this condition will help the quality of life for most women. M

Comparative Study of a 1064 nm Fractional Picosecond Laser Versus Intense Pulsed Light in Facial Rejuvenation: A Prospective Randomized Trial.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Skin aging, characterized by wrinkles, pigment disorders, and enlarged pores, is driven primarily by photoaging. While a 1064 nm fractional picosecond laser shows efficacy in skin rejuvenation, comparative studies with intense pulsed light (IPL) remain limited. This randomized controlled trial (RCT) aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of the 1064 nm fractional picosecond laser with IPL in Asian women. METHODS: In this single-center RCT, 38 Asian women (30-60 years) were randomized to receive 1064 nm Nd:YAG picosecond laser with a fractional optic (1064 nm Ps) (

Therapeutic effects of 10-HzPulsed wave lasers in rat depression model: A comparison between near-infrared and red wavelengths.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The application of transcranial low-level light/laser therapy (tLLLT) in the range of red to near-infrared (NIR) spectrum for psychological disorders is a new area that is attracting growing interest in recent years. The photomodulation effects of NIR and red coherent lights on the activity of cytochrome c oxidase in neuronal cells of brain have been recently introduced. This study, therefore, sought to compare the therapeutic effects of 10-Hz pulsed wave NIR (810 nm) laser with red (630 nm) laser using the same delivered energy density and Citalopram in rat chronic m

Wavelength dependent effects of red and infrared photobiomodulation on neuropathic pain, skeletal muscle integrity, and mitochondrial respiration.

Neuropathic pain is a chronic and difficult to treat condition affecting up to 10% of the population, significantly impairing quality of life and representing a public health concern. Photobiomodulation (PBMT) has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach, as photons can reach mitochondria and promote beneficial effects, including increased ATP production, reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, and improved mitochondrial metabolism and regeneration. However, gaps remain regarding its effects on mitochondrial dynamics in neuropathic pain. This study investigated the impact of PBMT at two

Photobiomodulation mitigates the inhibitory effects of pirfenidone on cancer-associated fibroblasts and their pro-tumorigenic properties: a cause for concern.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the tumor microenvironment highly contribute to cancer progression and poor prognosis. Recent findings introduce pirfenidone, a medication for pulmonary fibrosis, as a promising repurposed candidate for inhibiting CAFs. Moreover, photobiomodulation (PBM), or low-level laser therapy, has surfaced as a potential modality against cancer; however, its impact on CAFs is not thoroughly comprehended. The present study scrutinized the effects of PBM, pirfenidone, and PBM+pirfenidone on CAFs, and their consequent impact on cancer cells using the CAF-condition

Cumulative effect of photobiomodulation by blue and red light on tumor cells: in vitro study with mammary adenocarcinoma cells - MCF-7.

Although the mechanism of action of photobiomodulation (PBM) on tumor cells is already well described in the literature, its cumulative effect is not. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cumulative effect of photobiomodulation (PBM) with blue (470 nm) and red (658 nm) light at doses of 6 J/cm² and 19 J/cm², respectively, in mammary adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) tumor cells. The study analyzed how single and sequential exposures to these lights modulated cell viability, proliferation, dsDNA release, nitric oxide (NO) production, and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Experimental analyses were c

Parkinson's disease, aerobic exercise and photobiomodulation: a randomised controlled trial.

Although Parkinson's disease (PD) is the neurological disease with the fastest growing prevalence, no disease-modifying treatments are yet available. However, regular exercise and photobiomodulation (PBM) with near-infrared light represent potential curative approaches. We hypothesized that combining those approaches may result in synergistic benefits. In the present randomized clinical trial, seventy-two people with PD were assigned to one of four conditions: six months of aerobic exercise (Exercise), PBM (808 nm), a combination of both (Exercise + PBM) or control. Motor symptoms (MDS-UPDRS),

The efficacy and safety of a 577 nm diode laser in the treatment of cutaneous warts: A prospective single-arm study.

Warts are a common skin disease caused by the human papillomavirus. While many treatments exist, none are entirely effective. Our objective is to study the efficacy and safety of a 577 nm diode laser in the treatment of cutaneous warts due to its strong oxyhemoglobin absorption for targeting wart vasculature. Patients with common warts (n = 31) were enrolled in this prospective study. Patients with history of poor wound healing (immunosuppressed or uncontrolled diabetics) and those with a scar and keloid formation, Koebner phenomenon, or active infection at the local site are excluded from the

Effect of photobiomodulation on fatigue-related errors in ankle joint position reproduction: the moderating role of perceived ankle instability in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

To investigate whether pre-exercise photobiomodulation (PBM) attenuates fatigue-induced decline in ankle joint position reproduction (JPR) and determine whether perceived ankle instability modifies this response. In this randomized, placebo-controlled trial with participant blinding and blinded outcome assessment, 30 healthy young adults (age: 24.3 ± 3.7 years; 15 male, 15 female) received either PBM or placebo treatment applied to the lower-leg musculature before a fatiguing protocol. PBM parameters included a wavelength of 830 nm, average power of 1 W, and total energy of 300 J per limb. Ank

A dual-mechanism injectable hydrogel integrating reactive oxygen species regulationand low-level laser therapy for androgenetic alopecia remediation.

Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) is a chronic disease characterized by follicular degenerative changes and the continuous deterioration of the follicular microenvironment. Excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and insufficient local microcirculation are both critical factors contributing to the onset and progression of this disease. However, existing clinical treatment approaches are mostly confined to single-target interventions for AGA. Herein, a multifunctional hydrogel system that integrates multi-active nanozymes with melanin nano photothermal agents was designed for efficien
