Fifty-two dogs naturally parasitized with Demodex canis and having the generalized form of the disease were utilized to evaluate the efficacy and safety of single or multiple topical treatments with a liquid concentrate formulation of amitraz. Crusted scabies, a rare variant of classical scabies, is a highly contagious condition in which the skin is infected with thousands to millions of mites. It can be defined as a generalized severe scabies infestation usually affecting immunocompromised patients. The diagnosis is becoming more relevant with the increasing use of immunosuppressive medications and the HIV epidemic. To date, more than 200 cases have been reported in the literature. We present a review of the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostic considerations, and therapeutic options.

We present the first ectoparasite infestation values (prevalence, mean abundance, and mean intensity) in two bats, Leptonycteris yerbabuenae (Phyllostomidae) from Carmen Island, Baja California Sur (BCS) (N = 11) and Myotis californicus (Vespertilionidae) from Los Manzanos, Baja California (BC) (N = 6), Mexico. Chigger mites of Afghanistan were studied on the base of collections made in Eastern and Central Hindu Kush, Kabul, and some other localities. Fifteen chigger species parasitizing nine species of Rodentia, two species of Lagomorpha, and one species of Soricomorpha were found, including 13 species which were not previously recorded in Afghanistan. Eco-geographical variability is observed in Shunsennia oudemansi: Individuals of this species from high-mountain localities of Eastern Hindu Kush are characterized by larger values of most morphometric characters than the specimens collected in Kabul.

Trombiculid mites are known to parasitize a variety of amphibian species, yet few comparisons of mite parasitism among amphibian species have been made. OBJECTIVE: We sought to demonstrate the high frequency of demodicoses and the overlapping with papulopustular rosacea (PPR) .

A 43-year-old man with tumour stage mycosis fungoides developed multiple follicular pustules on the trunk during total-skin electron beam therapy. A potassium hydroxide preparation of the contents of the pustules revealed the presence of Demodex mites.
