Acute lunate and perilunate dislocations are not commonly observed injuries. In particular, palmar-divergent dislocation is a very rare injury with only a few cases reported in the literature. In this report, we describe the case of a 37-year-old patient with palmar-divergent dislocation of the scaphoid and lunate and discuss the mechanism of this type of injury. We also report a potential treatment for this pattern of palmar-divergent dislocation. Chronic low back and neck pain remain prevalent medical concerns, with much debate regarding the effective evaluation and treatment. Facet disease has been implicated as a source of axial nonradiating low back pain. We discuss patient evaluation, the role of imaging, current and emerging image-guided therapies for facet-related pain, and the increasing importance of outcome-related research in this arena.

The STIF (spinopelvic transiliac fixation) technique for lumbosacral fusion was developed by the authors as an alternative to the Luque-Galveston technique. The results observed in this initial series of 27 neuromuscular scoliosis patients treated with the STIF technique are reported. The authors report their experience in the treatment of metastases in long bones. Between 1980 and 1985, 51 cases were submitted to surgical treatment. The authors have presented a surgical procedure for disruption of the acromioclavicular joint with or without fracture of the lateral end of the clavicle. The results of the dynamic repairs have been excellent with restoration of stability and normal strength in all cases. The majority of this group were vigorous young high school college and professional athletes prior to their injury and all were returned to their previous activities.

The surgical treatment of pediatric atlantoaxial subluxation (AAS) in Down syndrome (DS) remains technically challenging due to radiation exposure and complications such as vertebral artery injury and nonunion. The established treatment is fixation with a C1 lateral mass screw and C2 pedicle screw (modified Goel technique). However, this technique requires fluoroscopy for C1 screw insertion. To avoid exposing the operating team to radiation we present here a new C-arm free O-arm navigated surgical procedure for pediatric AAS in DS. A 5-year-old male DS patient had neck pain and unsteady gait.

PURPOSE: To examine the incidence of occult infection in revision spine surgeries and its correlation with preoperative inflammatory markers.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed all patients who underwent revision spine surgery and hardware removal between 2010 and 2016. Patients who had preoperative clinical signs of infection were excluded. The hardware and surrounding tissue culture results were obtained. The patients' diagnosis and preoperative inflammatory marker (ESR, CRP, and procalcitonin) levels were recorded.
