Examining pessary use and satisfaction in managing pelvic organ prolapse: results from a cross-sectional multicentre patient survey.

BACKGROUND: Vaginal pessaries are a common method of managing pelvic organ prolapse (POP), as well as different types of urinary incontinence, allowing patients to successfully improve overall quality of life. Yet despite their positive attributes, there are several reasons why patients may choose to discontinue using pessaries and proceed with surgery to treat their condition instead. This study aimed to explore patients' experiences of pessary use in treating POP. METHODS: Participants completed an online survey regarding pessary use and ideal characteristics of a pessary. Participants were

Patient-perceived factors on treatment satisfaction in early onset scoliosis treated surgically with a minimum of ten years.

BACKGROUND: The prognosis of surgically treated subjects with early onset scoliosis (EOS) into adulthood has been lacking. We aimed to investigate the patients' perspectives on satisfaction with surgical treatment. METHODOLOGY: We included all surgical candidates with EOS who had undergone index spinal surgery for scoliosis correction between 2009 and 2013. The minimum duration of postoperative follow-up was 10 years at the time of survey completion. Three questionnaires were used in this study, comprising the revised Scoliosis Research Society questionnaire (SRS-22r), the Patient-Reported Ou

Evaluation of patient satisfaction with an enhanced recovery protocol for esophageal resections: a concurrent quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Patient satisfaction during hospitalization for esophagectomy has been little studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate patients' satisfaction with a newly introduced enhanced recovery protocol (ERP) for esophagectomy. At hospital discharge, patients were invited to complete a questionnaire. This pseudonymized questionnaire contained 5-point Likert scales regarding items on multidisciplinary care (n = 7), information/communication (n = 7), length of stay (n = 1), and specific adaptations of care in the ERP (n = 11). One open question asked for patient experiences and suggestions for impro…

Comparison of Laser and Conventional Lancing Devices for Blood Glucose Measurement Conformance and Patient Satisfaction in Diabetes Mellitus.

Self-monitoring of capillary blood glucose is important for controlling diabetes. Recently, a laser lancing device (LMT-1000) that can collect capillary blood without skin puncture was developed. We enrolled 150 patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus. Blood sampling was performed on the same finger on each hand using the LMT-1000 or a conventional lancet. The primary outcome was correlation between glucose values using the LMT-1000 and that using a lancet. And we compared the pain and satisfaction of the procedures. The capillary blood sampling success rates with the LMT-1000 and lancet w

Patient Satisfaction and Clinical Effects of Platelet-Rich Plasma on Pattern Hair Loss in Male and Female Patients.

Introduction Hair loss is a widespread condition in both genders. Over the past decade, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has become a common treatment for hair loss. Our goal was to analyze patient satisfaction and the clinical effects of PRP on male and female pattern hair loss. Methods Over a period of 12 months, we treated a total of 56 patients for androgenetic alopecia with PRP. All of these patients were included in this study; 15 cc of whole blood was spun in an ACP double syringe (Arthrex Inc., Naples, Forida) for five minutes. The yielded 5 to 6 cc of PRP were then injected into the scalp.

Functional performance and patient satisfaction comparison between a 3D printed and a standard transradial prosthesis: a case report.

BACKGROUND: The delay between amputation and prosthesis fitting contributes to the high rate of prosthetic abandonment despite advances in technology. Three-dimensional (3D) printing has allowed for the rapid fabrication of prostheses. Allowing individuals with amputations to interact with a prosthesis shortly after their procedure may reduce rejection chances. The purpose of the current investigation is to compare functional outcomes and patient satisfaction between a standard transradial prosthesis fitted in a clinic with a 3D-printed prosthesis fitted remotely. The standard prosthesis featu…

Patient satisfaction with the cervical ripening balloon as a method for induction of labour: a randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Evidence has shown that balloon catheters are as effective as prostaglandins (PGE) in achieving vaginal delivery within 24 hours of the start of induction of labour (IOL), with lower rates of uterine hyperstimulation, and similar Caesarean section and infection rates. International guidelines recommend mechanical methods as a method of IOL. We designed a prospective randomised controlled study to evaluate patient acceptance of the cervical ripening balloon (CRB) for IOL. METHODS: Suitable women with a singleton term pregnancy without major fetal anomaly suitable for vaginal deli
