BACKGROUND: To evaluate the early outcome of Lichtenstein's technique for repair of inguinal hernia using polypropylene mesh.
METHODS: This was a descriptive study conducted over a period of twelve months from 1st July 2007 to 30th June 2008 in Surgical 'B' unit, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. One hundred and twelve patients were received through the out patient department with diagnosis of inguinal hernia. PURPOSE: We aimed to report a surgical technique for the management of ocular hypotony after tube surgery.
METHODS: We occluded the tube with ab interno insertion of 2 bent 5-0 polypropylene threads into the tube lumen. Bent stents were used to prevent stent displacement.
RESULTS: Our case series revealed that this procedure effectively resolved hypotony. Among the 3 cases, the stents were removed in 1 case and left in place in 2 cases. In all cases, the stent location remained stable without displacement.

A new technique for fixating the capsular bag in patients with ectopia lentis is presented. Laparoscopic rectopexy has been performed in four female patients with rectal prolapse. Four or five trocars were used in each case, with the same introduction places as for laparoscopic anterior resection. This study aims to describe a new technique of indirect cyclopexy in the treatment of cyclodialysis. Cases who had cyclodialysis for more than 3 h of extent and were resistant to medical treatment underwent flanged prolene cyclopexy (FPC) technique. Five cases were included in this study. PURPOSE: To describe a technique for suturing a dislocated intraocular lens (IOL) using an intraocular cowhitch knot without IOL extraction.
METHODS: Through the sideports of paracentesis, a cowhitch knot is made outside of the anterior chamber by looping 10-0 Prolene around the haptics of the IOL. The knot is then tied in the anterior chamber by pulling up the suture. After repeating this for the opposite side, the cowhitch knots are fixated to the ciliary sulcus.

Of 110 eyes with posterior chamber intraocular lenses (IOLs) examined postmortem, 37% had both haptics outside of the capsular bag; 57% had one haptic in the capsular bag and the other haptic outside of the bag.
