Mechanical behavior of endodontically treated molars restored using two restorative approaches and two CAD/CAM materials: an in-vitro study.

BACKGROUND: Restoration of endodontically treated teeth (ETT) with significant coronal loss poses a challenge in clinical dentistry. Advances in CAD/CAM technology and biomimetic materials have introduced minimally invasive approaches, such as endocrowns and overlays, which can replace traditional post-core and crown approach. AIM: The aim of this in-vitro study was to comparatively assess the mechanical behaviour of two restorative designs (endocrowns and overlays) fabricated from two CAD/CAM materials in endodontically treated mandibular molars. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-six endodontic

Development of metal-resin composite restorative material. Part 5: Evaluation of the bonding between Ag-Sn particle and 4-META coupling agent of the metal-resin composite.

This study evaluated the oxide characteristics on a Ag-Sn particle surface modified by acid and heat in order to understand the bonding mechanism. Nine different Ag-Sn particles including standard Sn, SnO and SnO2 were evaluated by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The particles were also used for preparing the composite to test the flexural properties following the ISO 4049. A high correlation between flexural strength of the composites and Sn3d binding energy of their filler particles was found. Different oxide forms (SnO and SnO2) showed different adhesive abilities to bond with 4-MET

Mechanical Performance of 3D-Printed Resin Materials for Endocrown Restorations: A Comparative Evaluation of Fracture Resistance, Weibull Analysis, and Experimental Fracture Toughness.

Background and Objectives: Three-dimensional printing is increasingly used to fabricate dental restorations; however, limited evidence is available on the mechanical performance and fracture behavior of printable resin materials used for endocrown restorations. Fracture load alone may not fully describe material performance, particularly when brittle or defect-sensitive failure occurs. This in vitro study aimed to compare the fracture resistance, Weibull parameters, experimental Mode I fracture toughness parameter, and failure patterns of three 3D-printed resin materials used for endocrown res

Occupational skin disease in the construction industry.

BACKGROUND: Construction workers have a substantial risk of developing irritant and/or allergic contact dermatitis. Unfortunately, however, there is little population-based epidemiological data relating to occupational skin diseases (OSD) in the European construction industry that allow assessment of preventive measures. OBJECTIVES: In this investigation, the yearly incidence rates and causes of OSD in the construction industry were analysed on the basis of our register in Northern Bavaria. METHODS: From 1990 until 1999, all incidences of OSD in the construction industry were recorded prospe

[Multiple agenesis and prosthetic restoration].

Cases of multiple agenesia present some difficulties in the treatment planing. Three situations may be encountered: limited agenesia, restored by a fixed, bonded or cemented prosthesis, multiple uni- or bimaxillary agenesia without remaining of deciduous teeth, restored by a fixed, bonded or cemented prosthesis or the partial adjacent prosthesis, multiple uni- or bimaxillary agenesia with remaining of deciduous teeth, restored by means of a supra-dental prosthesis. The first two situations have been described in dental literature and are relatively easy to treat. The same is not true for the t

Esthetic and functional rehabilitation via reattachment of dental fragments.

Anterior teeth fractures are frequently encountered in clinical practice. The reattachment of dental fragments, if possible, is a conservative and effective technique, which is utilized in this case. This case presentation concerns an 18-year-old male patient with a root-crown fracture of the left maxillary central incisor, which involves the periodontal biologic space. The treatment was the reattachment of the dental fragment with a composite resin and adhesive, in association with periodontal surgery. The reattachment technique described in this case report is simple, but it provides long-la
