PURPOSE: To report a previously unrecognized choroidal melanoma clinical feature termed tumor-associated retinal pigmentation (TARP) and determine any correlation with tumor biology.
DESIGN: Imaging and histologic analysis of a retrospective cohort of patients.

To describe the natural history and management of an acute angle closure secondary to choroidal melanoma. A 70-year-old female presented with pain, elevated intraocular pressure, mature cataract, and angle closure in right eye. With further studies she was found to have a choroidal melanoma causing the acute angle closure. Enucleation was performed and the patient is currently in close postoperative surveillance by ophthalmology and oncology. Brain metastases from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) are rare. Among them, the metastases localized only in the choroid plexus are exceptional and only six cases are reported in the literature. An unusual lymphoid lesion with reactive germinal centers, occurring in the choroid plexus of a young gorilla, is reported. It presented as a large mass in the lateral ventricle with hydrocephalus and neurological symptoms. A work-up did not reveal any underlying cause for this lesion. The level of immunoglobulins M, G, A in 30 patients with uveal melanoblastomas has been compared with results after treatment, different cellular types of uveal melanomas before enucleation and in various terms after it. It was found that for prognosing the outcomes of tumors the determination of the level of immunoglobulins M and G proved to be informative. It becomes lower after combined treatment; higher in spindle cell melanomas, than in mixed and epithelioid ones; lower in the patients survived, than in cases with a lethal outcome.

During the 25-year period 1955 to 1979, 29 cases of malignant melanoma of the choroid and ciliary body, and 4 cases of melanoma of the iris, were diagnosed in Iceland. Choroid plexus carcinoma (CPC) is a malignant tumor with a strong tendency to spread along the cerebrospinal fluid pathway. There is no standardized chemotherapy protocol for this rare tumor. We reviewed 242 cases of choroidal and ciliary body melanoma that were treated by enucleation to determine the importance of juxtapapillary location as a prognostic factor for tumor-related deaths. Analysis involved Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox proportional hazards analysis. Patients with juxtapapillary tumors had a worse prognosis than those with tumors in other locations (64% vs 78% five-year survival), but the difference was not statistically significant.
