A 19-year-old woman sustained a vertical shear type pelvic fracture. Sacroiliac fixation using computed tomography (CT)-guided cannulated screws was performed for a left sacroiliac dislocation fracture, and a satisfactory result was obtained over time. Patients who have posterior instability of the lateral compression or vertical shear type do not obtain adequate stability by fixation of the anterior part alone; and they often have persistent residual pain, necessitating internal fixation of the posterior part later. Advantages of CT-guided sacroiliac screw fixation include precise evaluation

A 21-year-old man suffered T12-L1 vertebrae fracture and lateral dislocation without neurological deficit. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated the fracture and lateral dislocation of the thoracolumbar spine. The injured spine was realigned with rods and screws, and bony fusion of the affected vertebrae was performed. Patients with thoracolumbar fracture-dislocation without neurological deficit may suffer unintended neurological injury secondary to maneuvers that cause further dislocation of the spine. Severe spinal injury without neurological deficit should be evalu

Traumatic mandibular condyle dislocations into the middle cranial fossa are rare. Thirty-three cases of middle cranial fossa injuries caused by condylar dislocations have been reported in the literature. A case report of a patient with a traumatic dislocated condyle into the middle cranial fossa, which was treated conservatively, is presented.

A case of divergent dislocation between the second metacarpal and the three ulnar metacarpals is presented. Severe edema, fragments of the trapezoid, and interposed volar ligaments prevented successful closed reduction. Open reduction enabled restoration of the carpometacarpal complex with excellent recovery of hand function.

A 26-year-old man was involved in a car crash then he presented an isolated trauma of the hand. We found out a dorsal dislocation of the second carpometacarpal joint with trapezoid fracture and a Rolando fracture. In emergency, closed reduction with percutaneous wires to stabilize, was performed. In the same time, the Rolando fracture was treated by internal fixation (plate). In a second time, after computerized tomography of the carpus, the trapezoid was reduced through a dorsal incision and held with two Kirschner-wires. At last follow-up one year after injury, the result was good. All movem

A case of posttraumatic avascular necrosis of the humeral head in a young patient was detected 3 years after an anterior dislocation with a nondisplaced greater tuberosity fracture. The evolution to degenerative joint disease is described.

A 21 month old child suffered from a luxation fracture L 1/2 with a complete paraplegia caused by an incorrect used car fastened seat belt. After operative reduction and stabilisation with Harrington-implants there was a slow but nearly complete recovery of sensible and motor functions. Three years after the accident there is only a low grade deformity in the upper lumber spine.

Report of an unusual case, that of a 60-year-old man who experienced concomitant bilateral anterior shoulder dislocations with associated bilateral brachial plexus and axillary artery injury. The report also highlights some of the bony and neurovascular lesions associated with shoulder dislocation.

Functional restoration after chronic persistent fracture-dislocation of the hip was achieved by total hip arthroplasty (THA) in two patients with history of severe multiple injuries. Acetabular deficiency was corrected by use of the femoral head as an autologous bone graft. A 24-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were treated for persistent fracture-dislocation of the hip two years and one year, respectively, after the accidents. In both, total hip arthroplasty in combination with acetabular bone grafts, with the femoral head, produced satisfactory clinical results at follow-up periods of 59

Posterior radial head dislocation without fracture of the ulna in an adult is extremely rare. A case is presented in which immediate closed reduction, a short period of immobilization, and early active range of motion resulted in a very good outcome. Early detection by thorough physical examination and careful radiographic analysis is crucial for a good final result.

Two cases of posterior fracture-dislocation of the hip associated with an ipsilateral femoral shaft fracture are presented with a technique of reduction and stabilization which allows for closed treatment of both injuries. This approach is advantageous in the severely injured patient.

A case of a 27-year-old man with a right-sided largely infra-foveal femoral head fracture dislocation with posterior wall acetabular fracture repaired via a Kocher-Langenbeck approach is presented. This is an atypical approach for fixation of the femoral head and acetabulum used because of the size and displacement of both the posterior wall fracture and the femoral head fracture. Indications for fixation of both the femoral head and the acetabulum include a displaced acetabular fracture with: (1) a fracture of the weight-bearing portion of the femoral head and/or (2) a fracture of the femoral…

INTRODUCTION: Posterior dislocation of the hip joint with associated acetabular and intertrochanteric fracture is a complex injury. Early recognition, prompt and stable reduction is needed of successful outcome.
CASE REPORT: 45 year old male patient presented with posterior dislocation of the hip with transverse fracture with posterior wall fracture of acetabulam and intertrochanteric fracture on the ipsilateral side. The complex fracture geometry was confirmed by CT scan. The patient was successfully managed by open reduction and internal fixation of intertrochanteric fracture was achieved w

This case report describes a rare posterior dislocation of the hip with fractures of the ipsilateral femoral neck and greater trochanter, without fracture of the femoral head, in a young adult male following a railway accident. This patient was managed within 6h of injury by open reconstruction. This unusual injury has not been reported previously. Cases of posterior fracture dislocation of the hip with a fracture of the femoral neck without fracture of the femoral head were reviewed from the literature. Mechanism of injury, controversies regarding operative procedures and appropriate surgical…
