CONTEXT.—: Surgery for Hirschsprung disease includes resection of the aganglionic bowel and adjacent transition zone (ganglionic bowel with partial circumferential aganglionosis, myenteric hypoganglionosis, and/or submucosal nerve hypertrophy). Pathology practices, including intraoperative frozen sections and sampling of resection specimens and accurate recognition and reporting of transition zone histopathology, are necessary to both prevent and diagnose incomplete resection.

Lymphoproliferative disorders in pregnancy are rare. Among that, Castleman disease is an uncommon lymphoproliferative disorder in pregnancy with an unknown etiology. Many cases have not been encountered more often in practice and are easily misdiagnosed due to their rarity. We present a case of a 36-year-old pregnant woman with a left para-ovarian mass incidentally diagnosed during the elective caesarean section as a benign lymphoproliferative disorder, sent in frozen. Diagnosing Castleman disease in frozen histopathology is quite challenging for pathologists, and few cases have been reported.

INTRODUCTION: We explored the effects of novel treatment practices on radiological examinations of the axilla in Finland.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Axillary ultrasound was performed for 178 new breast cancer patients preoperatively. A core biopsy was taken from the suspected lymph nodes, and the finding was compared with the postoperative results.
RESULTS: Ultrasound in combination with the core biopsy detects 61.6% of the macrometastases. Ultrasound detected almost all axilla having a high tumor burden.

Malignant transformation of benign cystic teratoma is rare and the most common malignancy is squamous cell carcinoma. The diagnosis is rarely made preoperatively and the prognosis is usually poor. Immunophenotyping of hematopoietic malignancies is usually accomplished in frozen sections or cell suspensions. To determine whether this procedure was also feasible in paraffin sections, we performed a double-blind immunoperoxidase study of 65 hematopoietic tumors whose phenotypes had been determined previously in fresh tissue.
