Hookworm infections are rare causes of acute gastrointestinal bleeding. We report a middle aged man with primary nephrotic syndrome and pulmonary embolism. During the treatment with steroids and anticoagulants, the patient presented acute massive hemorrhage of the gastrointestinal tract. The results of gastroscopy showed red worms in the duodenum. Colonoscopy and CT angiogram of abdomen were unremarkable. Capsule endoscopy revealed fresh blood and multiple hookworms in the jejunum and ileum. Hookworms caused the acute intestinal bleeding. Results of examination of 324 biopsies from hepatopancreatoduodenal zone were analyzed. The biopsy was performed as roentgentelevision- or US-guided procedure with Pro-Mag 2.2 device. We report a case of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma of the rectum that regressed after antibiotics administration. A 70-year-old female complained of abdominal discomfort. Colonoscopy performed in July 1998 showed a hemispheric protrusion of the rectum, the surface of which was covered with normal rectal mucosa. There is a strong association between Helicobacter pylori and peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis. We present the case of a 62 year old male who presented to the emergency room with abdominal pain and vomiting in coffee grounds. In the diagnostic study, a gastric volvulus was detected and initial endoscopic management was decided. He presented a torpid clinical evolution, which eventually required surgical intervention as the final treatment. We highlight gastric volvulus as a rare urgent pathology, whose optimal management is still to be defined.
