Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) is an important tool in the diagnosis, evaluation and follow up of glaucoma patients. Even if we are dealing with a primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) or a primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) patient, the mechanism of angle closure can be revealed by performing an UBM. The device can help differentiate between the two types of glaucoma even in patients with opaque corneas when gonioscopy cannot be performed. Knowing the type of glaucoma is vital, especially regarding an individualized treatment, since each patient is unique and needs to be treated accordingly,

AIM AND BACKGROUND: The OMNI surgical system allows for 360° canaloplasty and trabeculotomy for patients with glaucoma, either as a standalone procedure or in combination with cataract surgery. Nanophthalmos is a rare clinical condition that may lead to serious sight-threatening complications. Knowledge of the physiopathology of nanophthalmos is very useful to understanding the relationships between the different pressures within the eye. With aging, nanophthalmos leads to chronic angle-closure glaucoma that is very difficult to manage, since very severe complications may occur. In this paper, we review the clinical signs, physiopathology, and treatment of nanophthalmos.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the potential association between glaucoma and fecal calprotectin. Primary angle closure glaucoma is the main type of glaucoma in Asia. Plateau iris is one of the important mechanisms of non-pupil block. After years of research, the concept of plateau iris has been gradually clarified, and its epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment have been gradually recognized.
