Making of Mobile SunSmart: Co-designing a Just-in-Time Sun Protection Intervention for Children and Parents.

BACKGROUND: In this study, we describe a participatory design process to develop a technology-based intervention for sun protection for children and their parents. Our methodology embraces and leverages the expert knowledge of the target users, children and their parents, about their sun protection practices to directly influence the design of our mobile just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI). The objectives of this paper are to describe our research procedures and summarize primary findings incorporated into developing our JITAI modules. METHODS: We conducted 3 rounds of iterative co-des

Primary school teachers' readiness in identifying children with dyslexia: A national survey in Sri Lanka.

Primary school teachers should be able to identify struggling learners who may have dyslexia type learning difficulties, in order to facilitate early intervention. Teacher readiness was measured based on three variables (a) teachers' self-reported basic knowledge of dyslexia, (b) their self-reported awareness of local tools and processes used to identify dyslexia and (c) their s

Different Domains of Dengue Research in Malaysia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Questionnaire-Based Studies.

This review provided a systematic overview of the questionnaire-related dengue studies conducted in Malaysia and evaluated their reliability and validity used in the questionnaires. An extensive literature search was conducted using various electronic databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Medline, and ScienceDirect. Systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) were selected as the preferred item reporting method. Out of 88 identified dengue-related, 57 published from 2000 to April 2020 met the inclusion criteria and were included. Based on the meta-analysis, a poor mean score was obtained for

Revisiting Ebola, a quiet river in the heart of Africa.

In 1995, 20 years after the first known Ebola outbreak, one of us (JPG) wrote an editorial about Ebola Virus Disease that captured the knowledge and attitudes toward viral diseases of that time and discussed the future of viruses in our world. Now, 21 years later, in the wake of the West African Ebola pandemic of 2013-2016, and after 22 other Ebola outbreaks, we revisit the article to determine if knowledge, attitudes, and practices have changed. We conclude that the necessary infrastructures (surveillance, financial, treatment/preventative health) have improved with each outbreak, and knowled

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Web-based survey was designed and electronically sent to Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR) members, with 3 questions on demograph

Prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease: A review of current knowledge.

This article reviews important features to improve the diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) by applying ultrasound in prenatal cardiac screening. As low and high-risk pregnancies for CHD are subject to routine obstetric ultrasound, the diagnosis of structural heart defects represents a challenge that involves a team of specialists and subspecialists on fetal ultrasonography. In this review, the images highlight normal anatomy of the heart as well as pathologic cases consistent with cardiac malposition and isomerism, septal defects, pulmonary stenosis/atresia, aortic malformations, hypop
