Adapting and Co-Producing a Psychological First Aid Intervention for Care Home Staff: A Person-Based Approach to Enhance Workforce Resilience.

Care home staff are routinely exposed to stressful and traumatic events, increasing risks of psychological distress, burnout, and reduced workforce resilience. Psychological First Aid (PFA), recommended by the World Health Organization, provides an evidence-based framework for delivering immediate emotional and practical support; however, its adaptation for care home contexts is limited. This study aimed to co-produce and adapt an existing PFA training resource for care home staff using a person-based approach (PBA) to enhance contextual relevance, acceptability, and feasibility. A two-phase q

The Perspective and Needs of Older Adults With Osteoporosis With a Recent Upper Extremity Fragility Fracture Concerning Fall Risk and Fear of Falling.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Osteoporosis increases the risk of fragility fractures, contributes to significant morbidity, and is a psychological challenge-fear of falling (FoF)-which can limit activity and engagement in rehabilitation. These challenges are often overlooked after a fracture, despite their relevance to rehabilitation planning. Understanding these challenges is crucial for health care practitioners, particularly physical and occupational therapists, who are central to fall prevention and post-fracture care. This study explored the perspectives of older adults with osteoporosis who ha

Self-reporting DSM-5/ICD-11 clinically significant intimate partner violence and child abuse: Convergent and response process validity.

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition (DSM-5) and International Classification of Diseases-11th Revision (ICD-11; proposed) now include criteria for clinically significant (a) intimate partner violence (IPV) and neglect and (b) child abuse and neglect. However, existing measures of IPV and child abuse do not allow for assessment of established criteria. The current study examines the convergent and response process validity of the Family Maltreatment (FM) measure of clinically significant physical and psychological IPV and child abuse. Participants (N = 126) compl

INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer represents a traumatic experience with a psychological burden. The prevalence of psychological distress (which include depression and anxiety) among breast cancer patients is estimated to be 15 to 54%, but studies have shown that applying some psychological treatments has contributed to decreasing depression and anxiety. So, it is crucial to diagnose and treat patients with the appropriate means. After reviewing the literature, no studies discussed depression and anxiety among Syrian breast cancer patients. METHODS: A cross-sectional study in Al-Bairouni hospital i

The story of Sam: continuities and discontinuities in development, transforming into and out of a perversion.

The aim of this paper is to suggest new ways of understanding development that offer new therapeutic possibilities. I use observational and interview data showing the development of one research subject over forty years to highlight that the concepts of continuity and discontinuity need to be considered together to grasp the full complexity of psychological development. In the subject an unanticipated transformation occurs at age 14, the emergence of a perversion, whichfades by age 28. I will show that the observations can be best understood by co-ordinating the influence of antecedents that e

Type A behavior pattern, inhibited power motivation, and activity inhibition.

The constructs of the Type A behavior pattern and the Inhibited Power Motive Syndrome (IPMS) have many features in common. The empirical relation between the two constructs was investigated in this study with 45 employed, male medical and surgical patients. Four different measures of the Type A pattern were examined. Results showed that, of the four measures, the Structured Interview and the Hostility Scale were related significantly to the IPMS. Systolic blood pressure reactivity was also related significantly to the IPMS. These relations could be ascribed largely to activity inhibition alone

The impact of family interview on the relationship between medical students and their silent mentor.

The gross anatomy laboratory course often triggers significant negative emotions in medical students during dissection. While various pedagogical interventions aim to alleviate psychological burden, the fundamental question of how students' perceptions of donors evolve throughout the course remains underexplored. In our program, students participate in family interviews with donors' family members, which provide a biographical context for the donor. This study investigated the processual nature of medical students' relationship formation with their "silent mentor" and the pivotal role of famil
