This paper reports on postoperative results and follow-up in 74 eyes of 51 patients suffering from myopia of between -5 and over -20 D. They underwent intracapsular cataract surgery for presenile or senile cataract. The operations were performed under local anesthetic after oculopression; a microscope was used. PURPOSE: In von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL), retinal detachment is often a real threat if the retinal angiomas are left untreated. The aim of this trial was to diagnose and treat capillary angiomas early at an asymptomatic stage.
METHODS: Since 1983, we have investigated patients with key lesions and those who are at risk for VHL in a multidisciplinary study. Classical retinal angiomas and microangiomas were treated with the Argon laser. Checks during a follow-up of 15 years have provided us with long-term results.

Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome typically occurs in the second trimester in 10-15% of monochorionic twin pregnancies. Vascular anastomoses of monochorionic placentae are the underlying cause of the development of the syndrome. If a blood flow imbalance occurs, one fetus becomes the so-called donor twin and the other the recipient. If untreated, perinatal mortality is 80-90%.
