CASE REPORT: We present a 48-year-old female patient who was diagnosed primarily with left atrial myxoma and taken into emergency surgery. Primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma is a very rare tumor of the liver and primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma with Behcet's disease has not been reported previously. Behcet's disease is a multisystem disorder presenting with recurrent oral and genital ulcerations as well as ocular lesions; it has rarely been reported in association with malignant disease. We report a case of primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma with intrahepatic and abdominal subcutaneous metastasis in a patient with Behcet's disease; this is the first report of these findings in Korea.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the respiratory tract is a very rare malignancy, especially in childhood, with only 15 cases in patients under 16 years old having been reported. In the present case, the survival period from the onset of symptoms has been over 7 years, despite incomplete resection. Based on the 15 published cases, the prognosis is poorer when the tumor is unresected or incompletely resected, but under favorable circumstances, prolonged survival is possible.

In this study, we investigated HMB-45 expression in epithelioid uterine leiomyosarcomas with clear cell areas. From 12 epithelioid leiomyosarcomas, we selected 5 that had: 1) clear cell areas and 2) spindle cell areas that were at least focally positive for desmin and caldesmon. A 61-year-old woman was thought to have a cancer of the head of pancreas on ultrasonography, computed tomography, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). At laparotomy, however, the pancreas was normal, and the tumour originated in the inferior vena cava. Histological examination showed a moderately differentiated leiomyosarcoma.
