An ectopic pregnancy are most common gynaecological emergencies. The large majority (95%) of ectopic pregnancies occur in Fallopian tube. Although pregnancy is rare in women who use intrauterine system Mirena, women who do become pregnant while using Mirena have a high risk of ectopic pregnancy. These pregnancies can be watchful for any signs of an ectopic pregnancy, such a severe abdominal pain accompanied by unusual vaginal bleeding.

Seventy to 80% of women using subdermal contraceptive implants (Norplant) have reported side effects, such as uterine bleeding, headache, mastalgia, and local pain at the site of insertion. This is a report of two patients who presented with peripheral neuropathy associated with the implants. One patient responded to removal of the device. The second patient, whose symptoms were thought to be related to trauma, was successfully treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to examine specific factors that motivated the request for early removal of Norplant among a group of young, low-income women who were dissatisfied with this contraceptive method.
