The present study was aimed to examine the status of antioxidants in water buffaloes with sarcoptic mange. Sixty-three buffaloes were divided into three groups, healthy control (group I, n=19), subclinical sarcoptic mange (group II, n=22) and clinical sarcoptic mange (group III, n=22). Content of individual phospholipids, gangliosides and lipid peroxidation were studied in liver tissue homogenates of rats with hepatitis caused by CCl4 or heliotrine. In all the cases studied the rate of lipid peroxidation was distinctly increased, while content of sphingomyelin was decreased and that of phosphatic acid--increased; concentration of some gangliosides was altered. Activation of lipid peroxidation appears to induce the enzymatic systems involved in degradation of phospholipids and gangliosides in liver tissue of rats with toxic hepatitis.

The changes in lipid peroxides (LP) content and antioxidant enzyme activities were investigated on airway surface during the aggravating process of bronchitis induced by SO2 exposure in rats. LP content in broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) has gradually increased from 3 weeks after starting of SO2 exposure. Dynamics of experimental acetate gastric ulcer healing and lipid peroxidation were studied in rat blood and gastric tissues after treatment with methyluracil. The drug was shown to stimulate reparation and to inhibit lipid peroxidation. The antiulcerogenous effects of methyluracil appear to involve the antioxidative mechanisms.

In the present studies, rats are fed with four different kinds of diet; (i) normal diet, (ii) B2-deficient diet, (iii) B2-tetrabutyrate added normal diet, and (iv) B2-tetrabutyrate added B2-deficient diet. The number or rats in each group is 10 and the term of raising is 18 to 46 days. In the normal diet group, when exposed to 90% oxygen, cholesterol, triglycerides, and the TBA value are increased in blood serum. The addition of B2-tetrabutyrate in diets reduces these elevation. Prior studies have shown that inhibiting ferroptosis could facilitate neural repair following traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI), yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.
