The clinical and pathological findings in patients with neurological disorders in association with disordered function of the small intestine, in particular coeliac disease, are outlined. The possible significance of the abnormalities of pyridoxine, tyrosine and tryptophan metabolism are considered in relation to biopterin derivatives and their relevance to neurological dysfunction.

The neurological examination is an integral part of the evaluation of the newborn infant. In too many instances the infant is dismissed from the nursery as 'normal' when,in fact, little or no effort has been expended to determine the body's neurological status. The neurological deficits overlooked often do not become overt until a much later age. Early detection can prevent the mental anguish that plagues the parents who must be told that their 'normal' infant has significant neurological problems. In some instances early diagnosis may lead to a better ultimate prognosis. We have presented a s

Neurological features of 24 patients with nervous system gnathostomiasis were reviewed. The commonest presenting features were radiculomyelitis or radiculomyelitis terminating with encephalitis, and subarachnoid haemorrhage. A primary encephalitic form was noted in 2 patients. The salient feature of the disease was a sudden onset of extremely severe radicular pain and/or headache followed by paralysis of the extremities and/or the cranial nerves. Migration signs were also the hallmark of nervous system gnathostomiasis. No single area of the nervous system was inaccessible to the highly invasiv

The clinical course of twins with osteopetrosis has provided a catalogue of the neurological complications that may occur with the disorder. Such a list has not previously been compiled: (1) Hydrocephalus - probably due to outflow obstruction in the posterior fossa. (2) Sagittal sinus thrombosis - due to bony encroachment, or to hematological causes. (3) Exophthalmos - due to bony encroachment in the orbit. (4) Foraminal occlusion at the base of the skull, producing compromise of cranial nerves and vessels. (5) Paraparesis - cause unknown, perhaps due to spinal stenosis. (6) Anemia - myelophth
