The Auditory Hallucinations Interview Guide (AHIG) is a 32-item tool that helps psychiatric-mental health (PMH) nurses assess past and current experiences of voice hearers so they can provide more individualized care. The AHIG was developed as a research tool but has also been found to be clinically useful in both inpatient and outpatient settings to help voice hearers and nurses develop a shared terminology of auditory hallucinations (AH). Using the AHIG, voice hearers are able to tell their stories in a structured and safe environment, thus encouraging recovery. Through respect and active li

As part of an ethnographic study exploring what it means for nursing home residents to "do well," we examined patterns of advocacy on which they relied to have an effective voice. The purposive sample included 17 older, long-stay residents from a for-profit chain nursing home and a large public skilled nursing facility. Data collection included in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review. Depending on personal history, health status, and facility context, participants relied on family and friends, trusted staff, fellow residents, or themselves as advocates. Although resid

INTRODUCTION: Nurses represent the backbone of global healthcare systems where women typically deliver care and men lead. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) highly relies on foreign female nurses despite Saudisation policies designed to localize its workforce. Yet, in the context of an ambitious 2016-30 national health transformation program to modernize public health in a high-income and rapidly developing country, intersectional inequalities persist for migrant and local nurses in KSA. There are challenges in the specialisms of palliative and end-of-life care where there is a weak public and

To improve access to foot health for this group, three services structured to provide healthcare support for people experiencing homelessness collaborated in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia: an established nurse-led Homeless Persons Program (HPP), a specialty community health podiatry clinic servicing people experiencing homelessness, and a charity supporting disadvantaged communities providing free socks, foot first aid kits and second-hand footwear for distribution by nurses and podiatrists of participating services. In many parts of Africa patients with upper-lid trichiasis due to trachoma have very limited access to ophthalmologists or hospital facilities. In order to reach these patients it is necessary for trained paramedical eye workers to operate on patients close to where they live. The results of trichiasis surgery performed by an ophthalmic nurse in Tanzania were evaluated. A total of 156 operations were performed on 94 patients over a 2 year period by an eye nurse in central Tanzania. One hundred and forty four eyes in 86 patients were followed for a minimum of 9 months (range 9-36; mean 25.5 mon

The "gynecological screening" that is composed of complex gynecological examination including colposcopy and cytological examinations has traditionally been incorporated into the gynecological protocol and practice. Over the past few decades, unfortunately, this screening practice has entrenched in the mind both of the gynecological community and the general public. As a result, the government-supported, organized cervical screening program of the population has come to a standstill. In order to adjust the cervical screening practice to the international public health recommendations in which

Each child with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibits individual characteristics of the disorder. Early identification of autistic spectrum disorder has been shown to improve the child's benefit from educational interventions. There may be health issues related to autism including seizure disorders and dietary restrictions. Students with autism need special consideration when they come to the health office for screening, assessment of injuries, or administration of medication. Collabora
