PURPOSE: To analyze the demographics and clinical characteristics in patients with intraocular cysticercosis.
METHODS: Retrospective case series and comprehensive literature review.
RESULTS: Intraocular cysticercosis was diagnosed in 21 of 21,079 patients (0.10%) seen by the uveitis service at Aravind Eye Hospital. At presentation, visual acuity was 20/200 or worse in 14 eyes (63.6%). Inflammation was unilateral in all but one patient (95.2%). PURPOSE: To describe a case of postoperative trabeculectomy-induced corneal astigmatism treated with femtosecond laser-assisted astigmatic keratotomy.
METHODS: After trabeculectomy, the patient demonstrated change in manifest refraction from -0.5 diopters preoperatively to mixed astigmatism of -3.5 + 5.25@100 postoperatively and a decrease in uncorrected distance visual acuity from 20/60 preoperatively to 20/200 at 1 month postoperatively. Biofeedback techniques were used to alter congenital nystagmus (CN) in an albino. In response to auditory cues, the patient was able to reduce the amplitude of the nystagmus by 50% or more. Ophthalmomyiasis interna posterior (OIP) means infection of the posterior part of the eye with the larvae of flies.
