OBJECTIVE: To identify the optimal intensity and duration of cupping that would minimize mechanical skin deformation.
METHODS: We developed an optical measurement probe and system for measuring skin color values in real time. We applied cupping at the following five Bladder Meridian acupoints. To investigate optimal intensity, negative pressure intensity was increased every 2 min up to 80 kPa. To investigate optimal time, 10 measurement sites were selected and negative pressure intensities of 30, 60, and 80 kPa were applied for 5 min each. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate an intense pulsed light (IPL) equipped with a 530- to 750-nm filter for inflammatory acne treatment.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty female patients (mean age, 25.7 years) with mild-to-moderate acne were enrolled. While using benzoyl peroxide (BP) gel, one side of the face was treated with the PR filter (acne filter) of the IPL.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The 810-nm wavelength diode laser can safely and successfully treat all skin types, including dark pigmented skin.
STUDY DESIGN/METHODS: Eight Fitzpatrick level V-VI skin type patients, four of which presented with the diagnosis of pseudofolliculitis barbae, were treated with the diode laser for hair removal using low-energy settings and long pulse duration.
RESULTS: All eight patients had excellent results with unwanted hair greatly reduced, and pseudofolliculitis barbae resolved.
CONCLUSIONS: Diode lasers can be used on dark pigmented skin with positive outcomes.

Six patients with mycosis fungoides were treated with topical mechlorethamine hydrochloride for periods of two to four years. Clinical and histological studies for radiomimetic and radiodermatitis-like effects failed to demonstrate any abnormalities. The only observed changes were generalized hyperpigmentation of the skin and melanin-containing melanophages in the papillary dermis. We consider that the long-term use of topical mechlorethamine may be a safe form of therapy, but that a continuous indefinite follow-up of patients on this medication should be mandatory.
