OBJECTIVE: To report a surgical technique for pancreaticoduodenostomy and its outcomes in a cat.
ANIMALS: A 14-year-old domestic cat.
STUDY DESIGN: Case report.
METHODS: A cat was referred to our hospital with a large abdominal mass. On ultrasonographic examination, this mass was identified as a large fluid-filled cavity in place of the right pancreatic duct and involved the pancreatic and accessory pancreatic ducts. A small echoic cavity was observed in the left pancreatic lobe. Serous fluid was collected from the large cavity. On cytology, the small cavity was consistent with an abscess.

OBJECTIVE: To validate the use of a polyblend tape suture in equine laryngoplasty (PL).
STUDY DESIGN: Experimental study.
ANIMALS: Thirty-two cadaveric larynges.
METHODS: Each larynx was randomly assigned to 1 of 4 groups: PL with polyblend tape suture (TigerTape), without (TT) or with a cannula (TTC) in the muscular process of the arytenoid cartilage, and PL with polyester suture (Ethibond), without (EB) or with a cannula (EBC). Construct stiffness, total migration, creep, and drift values were measured after 3000 cycles. The specimens were then loaded to failure to assess their residual p

OBJECTIVE: To describe the transoral endoscopic arytenopexy (TEA) and evaluate its effects on the rima glottis area (RGA) and laryngeal epiglottic-glottic seal (LEGS). We hypothesize the TEA will be a feasible surgical technique and the TEA will provide a significant increase in RGA with minimal change to the LEGS.
STUDY DESIGN: Canine cadaveric model.
ANIMALS: Fifteen medium- to large-breed canine cadavers.
METHODS: Endoscopic photos of the larynx were taken with the epiglottis open for baseline RGA measurement and closed for baseline measurement of exposed RGA and LEGS. A custom endoscopi

ANIMALS: Client-owned dogs (n = 4) with oronasal fistulas related to cancer.
STUDY DESIGN: Short case series.
METHODS: Maxillary defects were caused by tissue destruction by the tumor and tumor response to radiation therapy in two cases and a complication of caudal maxillectomy in two cases, one of which had neoadjuvant radiation therapy. All tumors were >4 cm at the level of the maxilla. Flaps were harvested by tra

STUDY DESIGN: Cadaveric case-control.
ANIMALS: Twenty-four Thoroughbred racehorses (n = 12 PSB fracture, n = 12 control).
METHODS: Proximal sesamoid bones were dissected, and gross pathological changes and morphological measurements were documented. High-speed exercise history data were evaluated. STUDY DESIGN: Case report.
ANIMALS: One-year-old, male neutered, Goldendoodle.
METHODS: Uniapical proximal varus and recurvatum femoral deformity (PFD) precluded femoral stem placement for THA, which was indicated for severe hip dysplasia. Using CT-derived bone and implant models, custom ostectomy and reduction guides for deformity correction were designed. A 13-hole 3.5 mm locking compr

STUDY DESIGN: Randomized, ex vivo, biomechanical.
POPULATION: Forty-two skeletally mature canine hindlimbs.
METHODS: Canine hindlimbs were dissected to produce a model simulating avulsion of the CCT and accessory tendons from the calcaneus. STUDY DESIGN: Case report.
ANIMALS: Six month old female spayed English bulldog.
METHODS: The dog was presented for a left thoracic limb lameness localized to the elbow.
