Cervical carcinosarcoma is a very rare tumour, with less than 70 cases described in the literature. We report a case of a woman in her 60s, with an atypical presentation: a single episode of high volume serous vaginal discharge. A carcinosarcoma of the uterine cervix was diagnosed and, after exclusion of distant disease, the patient was submitted to radical surgery. Due to surgical complications adjuvant treatment was not performed.

Two cases of Reiter's syndrome in women are described. The diagnosis was based on the presence of increased vaginal and cervical discharge containing excess leucocytes, arthritis, conjunctivitis, and HLA B27 tissue-typing antigen. In addition circinate lesions developed on the vulva similar to those seen on the glans penis. No previous description of these lesions has been traced and the name 'circinate vulvitis' is suggested for these lesions.

Cervical smears taken from women referred for a check-up or with vaginal itching/discharge over a period of 3.5 years were reviewed at the King Hussein Medical Centre, Jordan. All smears were fixed with 96% alcohol, stained with Papanicolaou stain and screened microscopically. Of the smears from 1176 women aged 18-70 years, 4.5% were classified as inadequate, 7.7% were normal and 79.9% showed non-specific inflammation. The prolapse of a uterine tube is a rare event after hysterectomy with adnexal conservation. It is described in the literature after abdominal or vagina hysterectomy. We report two cases occurring after laparoscopic hysterectomy, and complicated by pyosalpingitis. Patients have presented with pelvic pain and vaginal discharge. Diagnosis was not easy, clinically suspected with the transvaginal ultrasonography, and confirmed by celioscopy. It may be helped by biopsy. The laparoscopic management was carried out without complications.

A lesbian couple in a monogamous relationship each presented with vaginal discharge demonstrable on culture to contain Trichomonas vaginalis. Their symptoms had failed to respond to standard regimens of metronidazole, and subsequent microbiological sensitivities confirmed resistance of the trichomonads to metronidazole (minimum inhibitory concentrations in aerobic conditions > 8 mcg/ml).
