Vaginal arteriovenous malformations are rare entities and their most common presentation is vaginal haemorrhage. This case report describes a 22-year-old woman who presented at 20 weeks of gestation with slow growing soft and tender swelling at anterior vaginal wall. Diagnosis was confirmed as vaginal vascular malformation on contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging. The mass did not subside after delivery and patient developed dyspareunia. It was successfully treated by angioembolisation using polyvinyl alcohol particles. Angioembolisation being safe and effective should be the treatment

OBJECTIVE: To describe an original technique for transvaginal cystocele repair and to report the anatomical and functional results of the first 47 patients operated by this technique. The operation combines suspension, by six sutures to the tendinous arches of the pelvic fascia, of a vaginal patch measuring 6 to 8 cm long by about 4 cm wide left in contact with the cystocele. The vaginal patch is then buried under the anterior colporraphy suture. Spinal fixation, hysterectomy, levator myorrhaphy or urinary incontinence repair are also performed as necessary.

Vaginal birth has been recognized as being potentially traumatic to the pelvic floor. It is important that contributory obstetric factors are identified and their occurrence minimized. Women who have sustained significant anal sphincter injury are at greater risk of further damage and faecal incontinence with subsequent deliveries. This review reports on recent developments in this field, and examines ways in which morbidity might be reduced.

The aim of the present study was to analyse the effect of hydrocoele of the vaginal cavity of stallions on semen characteristics, libido and fertility, and to contribute to the understanding of the aetiopathology of this condition in stallions. Based on a prospective study on a continuous series of women admitted on emergency for post-coitus hemorrhage. The authors present an epidemiology and prognosis of vaginal injuries in to coitus in the Dakar University Teaching Hospital. A 21 year-old woman presented with an encapsulated mass involving the right ovary, tube and caecum. On transvaginal sonography a 15 mm-target structure was surrounded by irregular, echo-poor formations suggestive of an inflamed appendix and a perityphlitic abscess. Transvaginal sonography is of diagnostic value in differentiating an appendiceal abscess from a right-sided tubo-ovarian abscess.

A case is presented of iatrogenic late ureterovaginal fistula treated with ureteral transplantation with a very good result. It was found that this was the method of choice in this type of fistulae, and temporary internal ureteral splinting was worthwhile to use as a prophylaxis of iatrogenic ureteral damage.

Obstetric complications may result from burn scarring in the genital area. Women in developing countries typically squat around cooking fires, and burns are common. This recent case in Nepal describes obstructed labor in a young woman whose genital area had extensive scarring from a cooking fire injury. Proper antenatal assessment by health care providers can reduce the risk to mothers and infants of the consequences of a birth canal damaged or obstructed by burn scarring.

A total of 132 pregnant women with average gestational age of 14.2 weeks (range 11-22 weeks) undergoing legal abortion volunteered for a trial utilizing vaginal administration of misoprostol. In 106 women a dose of 800 micrograms was utilized, whilst in 26 women 1,200-1,600 micrograms were given. Nonsurgical expulsion of the fetus was successful in 117 cases (88.6%).
