A survey of 1540 forestry workers in Quebec found a prevalence of Raynaud's phenomenon of 30.5% among chain-saw users and 8.7% among nonusers. Prevalence was related directly to duration of use of the chain-saw. The mean interval (+/- the standard deviation) between the time the chain-saw was first used and the onset of Raynaud's phenomenon was 7.8 +/- 5.6 years. INTRODUCTION: Questions concerning under-reporting of occupational diseases (OD) linked to asbestos exposure are regularly voiced in France. Monitoring of the French multicenter Asbestos-Related Disease Cohort (ARDCO), which ensures post-occupational medical surveillance of subjects having been exposed to asbestos, provides information on (1) the medico-legal steps taken following screening by computed tomography (CT) for benign thoracic diseases, and (2) recognition of OD as a causal factor in malignant diseases.

Research indicates that dairy farmers have an elevated risk of work-related adverse health outcomes. This case-control study evaluated the characteristics of and risk factors for compensated occupational injury and disease claims among Finnish dairy farmers. PURPOSE: To determine factors predictive of return to work (RTW) and days of total disability (TD) in a population of persons working at the time of lower extremity amputation.
METHOD: Retrospective chart and database review.
RESULTS: Of 88 valid cases, 48% involved toe amputation, 23% transtibial, 14% partial foot, 14% transfemoral, and 2% high level. Mobbing represents nowadays a major challenge for Occupational Medicine. We examined, during the last seven years, 253 patients who asked medical assistance for psychopathological problems by them ascribed to mobbing in the working environment.
