The Clarke SHQ: a clinical sex history questionnaire for males.

The development of a 225-item sexual history questionnaire is reported. The frequency, desire for, and disgust for a wide range of sexual be … observations was the continuity between exhibitionism and heterosexual pedophilia and the apparent bisexuality of some homosexual males. The scale allows for the assessment of the preferences of sexually inexperienced males as well.

Relationships among childhood sex-atypical behavior, spatial ability, handedness, and sexual orientation in men.

Moderate support was obtained in a sample of 101 gay, bisexual, and heterosexual males for the perinatal hormone theory, which hypothesizes that attenuated levels of androgens during critical periods of male fetal development fail to masculinize and defeminize the brain. Affected individuals develop female-typical sexual orientation (assessed here by a pie chart) and cerebral organization, reflected in visual-spatial abilities and gender nonconformity. Handedness, also thought to reflect in utero hormone exposure, was evaluated. Gay and bisexual males reported greater femininity and lesser mas

Sexual orientation, sexual behaviors, and pregnancy among American Indian adolescents.

PURPOSE: A recent study found a disproportionate number of pregnancies among Euro-American lesbian and bisexual adolescents compared to heterosexual peers. American Indian adolescents have reported higher prevalence of gay/lesbian/bisexual orientations than Euro-Americans; do they also report higher prevalence of pregnancy? METHODS: The study assessed prevalence of teen pregnancy and related factors by sexual orientation among sexually experienced, reservation-based American Indian adolescent males (n = 2056) and females (n = 1693) who participated in a national school-based survey in 1991. Factors Associated with Low/Moderate Perceived Risk for HIV Acquisition Among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men Eligible to Use Pre-exposure Prophylaxis from Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Perceived risk for HIV acquisition among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) may not align with their actual sexual HIV exposure. Factors associated with low/moderate perceived risk among GBMSM eligible for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) (based on their high estimated HIV exposure) have been poorly described in Latin America. This is a secondary analysis of a 2018 web-based cross-sectional survey in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Participants were ≥ 18 years old, cisgender men, not living with HIV, had sex with other men in the previous six months, and had an HIV Incidence R

Experiences around testing and linkage to HIV care among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men: qualitative findings from the patient-centered care project in the lake Victoria region of Kenya.

Although the Kenyan Ministry of Health recognizes key populations in addressing the country's HIV epidemic, gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) face challenges in HIV testing, linkage, and retention in care. This study aimed to inform the development of context-specific interventions to improve GBMSM's initiation in HIV care in Kenya. Drawing on in-depth semi-structured interview data from the Patient-Centered Care Project (PCCP), a qualitative study exploring the experiences of people with HIV (PWH) across the continuum of care, we focused on GBMSM aged ≥18 years with H

To whom should we prescribe doxy-PEP? A retrospective review of public health surveillance data for bacterial STI diagnoses among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men in Ottawa, Canada.

INTRODUCTION: Increases in bacterial sexually transmitted infections (bac-STIs), such as gonorrhoea, chlamydia and syphilis, have affected gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM). A new strategy to prevent bac-STIs involves giving doxycycline as postexposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP), and research shows that this intervention can prevent chlamydia and syphilis by 70% and gonorrhoea by 33%-50%. Consequently, the US CDC released guidelines in 2024 recommending doxy-PEP for gbMSM with ≥1 bacterial STI diagnosis in the previous 12 months. METHODS: We reviewed public health STI sur

Optimizing Sexually Transmitted Infection Screening Packages in the Context of Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Use Among Cisgender Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men in Taiwan: A Discrete Choice Experiment.

Given the global burden of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and the introduction of doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) as an effective biomedical prevention strategy, there is a need to re-evaluate and culturally tailor STI screening policies for better integration into prevention services. We assessed preferences for STI prevention services among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) in Taiwan in the context of doxy-PEP. An anonymous, self-administered, web-based survey was conducted between April and May 2025 via a geosocial app popular among Taiwanes

Medical chart-reported alcohol consumption, substance use, and mental health issues in association with HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) nonadherence among gay, bisexual, and other men-who-have-sex-with-men.

BACKGROUND: Although some evidence suggests that alcohol, substance use, and mental health issues diminish adherence to HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) among gay, bisexual, and other men-who-have-sex-with-men (gbMSM), findings are somewhat inconsistent and have primarily derived from studies involving non-random samples. Medical chart extraction can provide unique insight by in part surmounting sampling-related limitations, as data for entire PrEP clinic populations can be examined. Our investigation entailed comprehensive chart extraction to assess the extent to which chart-reported alcoh

Sexual intercourse, abuse and pregnancy among adolescent women: does sexual orientation make a difference?

CONTEXT: Although a limited amount of research has retrospectively explored the childhood and adolescent heterosexual experiences of lesbians, little is known about the prevalence of heterosexual behavior and related risk factors or about pregnancy histories among lesbian and bisexual teenagers. METHODS: A secondary analysis was conducted using responses from a subsample of 3,816 students who completed the 1987 Minnesota Adolescent Health Survey. Behaviors, risk factors and pregnancy histories were compared among adolescents who identified themselves as lesbian or bisexual, as unsure of their

Acceptability and Feasibility of Longitudinal Sampling for Sexually Transmitted Enteric Infections in Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men (GBMSM): Prospective Cohort Pilot Study Conducted in 2022 in South East England.

BACKGROUND: In the last 2 decades, there has been an increasing number of sexually transmissible enteric infection (STEI) outbreaks among gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). There remain important gaps in our understanding of how STEI transmission is sustained that repeated collection of samples could help to address. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of longitudinal samples and epidemiological data collection among GBMSM accessing sexual health services (SHS) through a prospective cohort study. METHODS: GBMSM (≥16 years) accessing

A Machine Learning Model for Identifying Sexual Health Influencers to Promote the Secondary Distribution of HIV Self-Testing Among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men in China: Quasi-Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND: Sexual health influencers (SHIs) are individuals actively sharing sexual health information with their peers, and they play an important role in promoting HIV care services, including the secondary distribution of HIV self-testing (SD-HIVST). Previous studies used a 6-item empirical leadership scale to identify SHIs. However, this approach may be biased as it does not consider individuals' social networks. OBJECTIVE: This study used a quasi-experimental study design to evaluate how well a newly developed machine learning (ML) model identifies SHIs in promoting SD-HIVST compared to
