An epizootic poxvirus infection occurred in a colony of 80 common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) recently introduced to a laboratory facility. Over an 18-week period, 29 of the monkeys exhibited skin lesions that persisted for 4-6 weeks. Two cases of Wernicke's encephalopathy with the rare phenomenon of ballooned neurons in the mamillary bodies are reported. Both patients suffered from acute Wernicke's symptoms starting approximately two weeks before death. The authors examined 131 patients with degree III-IV alimentary-constitutional obesity before and after operation for formation of a "small stomach". The average body weight of the patients before surgery was 145 +/- 2.28 kg. In the first 12 postoperative months it reduced by 41.9 +/- 1.76 kg as compared to the initial weight. OBJECTIVE: To describe pretreatment cardiometabolic constitution in children and adolescents with first-episode psychosis (FEP).
METHODS: Baseline cardiometabolic assessment was performed in youths aged 12-17 years with FEP entering the Tolerability and Efficacy of Antipsychotics (TEA) trial and matched healthy controls.
