Five-year survival data were available in 78 cases originally classified as uveal melanomas in patients less than 20 years old. Forty-two were malignant melanomas arising from the choroid and/or ciliary body; 13 patients from this group died of metastatic disease. UNLABELLED: Circumscribed choroidal hemangioma (CCH) and early non-pigmented choroidal melanoma (CM) have similar clinical, ultrasound and morphometric features, which in some cases makes their differential diagnosis difficult. PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of primary photodynamic therapy (PDT) for posterior choroidal amelanotic melanomas.
METHODS: Patients with posterior choroidal amelanotic melanomas up to 6 mm in height were treated with PDT using verteporfin as the photosensitizing agent. Treatment was repeated every 3 months until the tumor was flat up to a maximum of 6 treatments. Tumor response and recurrence was assessed by clinical examination, photography, and ultrasonography. PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to identify the diagnostic features of optic nerve head melanocytoma (ONH-MCT) on spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD OCT) and OCT angiography (OCT-A).
