Sera from 10 patients with juvenile arthritis (JA), 2 seropositive and 8 with hidden rheumatoid factor (RF), were subjected to affinity chromatography on a rabbit anti-human IgM column. Material retained by the column was eluted sequentially by 1M NH3 and 0.1M glycine-HCl buffer, pH 3.0. Protein A from Staphylococcus aureus was used for differentiating antibodies against Coxiella burnetii according to immunoglobulin classes. With the aid of insolubilized immunoadsorbents made with glycoproteins, extracted from cow red blood cells (RBC), and with guinea-pig kidney tissue, heterophile antibody populations of the Paul--Bunnell type and the Forssman type were eluted from infectious mononucleosis sera. Two Paul--Bunnell-type antibody populations were separated on the basis of their affinity for cow RBC antigens. The lymphocytotoxic antibodies in the infectious mononucleosis sera were eluted among the low-affinity Paul--Bunnell antibodies.

Soluble substances of psoriatic scales (Pso-exts) were analysed immunologically to detect immune complex (IC) related to the immune reactions in psoriatic lesions and compared with extracts of scales from a patient with erythroderma due to pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP-exts) as control. Biochemically active human DNA repair protein, xeroderma pigmentosum G (XPG), was overexpressed in insect cells by a recombinant baculovirus.
