INTRODUCTION: Clitoral reconstruction (CR) is a controversial surgical procedure performed for women who have undergone medically unnecessary, often ritualistic genital cutting involving the clitoris. Such cutting is known by several terms; we will use female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). Treatments offered to women affected by complications of FGM/C include defibulation (releasing the scar of infibulation to allow penetrative intercourse, urinary flow, physiological delivery, and menstruation) and CR to decrease pain, improve sexual response, and create a pre-FGM/C genital appearance.

We report the surgical management of eight vulvar tumors occurred at the waning of female genital mutilation practiced in childhood. Patients were aged 19 to 38 years. It was essentially excision type 2. Surgical excision of the labia minora with a refund without clitoral plasty gave satisfactory aesthetic and functional results. Histological examination of these tumors showed a single cyst containing keratin without inflammatory reaction.

OBJECTIVE: We sought to characterize the distribution of the pudendal nerve branches and to correlate findings with injury risk related to common midurethral sling procedures.
STUDY DESIGN: Dissections were performed in 18 female cadavers. Biopsies were obtained to confirm gross findings by histology.
RESULTS: In all dissections, most of the clitoral and perineal nerves coursed caudal to the ventral portion of the perineal membrane. The inferior rectal nerve did not enter the pudendal canal in 44% (n = 8) of specimens. Nerve tissue was confirmed histologically in tissue sampled.

Recognition of Crohn disease in children who present with cutaneous vulvar lesions as their initial clinical manifestation is often difficult. We report here the case of an 8-year-old girl with chronic vulvar edema, which on biopsy revealed granulomatous inflammation of the vulva. Further investigation and biopsy of the terminal ileum demonstrated similar findings and was consistent with a diagnosis of Crohn disease.
