Knee effusion is a common comorbidity in osteoarthritis. To quantify the amount of effusion, semi quantitative assessment scales have been developed that classify fluid levels on an integer scale from 0 to 3. In this work, we investigated the use of a neural network (NN) that used MRI Osteoarthritis Knee Scores effusion-synovitis (MOAKS-ES) values to distinguish physiologic fluid levels from higher fluid levels in MR images of the knee. RATIONALE: Eosinophilic pleural effusion (EPE) is a rare phenomenon in which the etiological diagnosis remains a challenging issue; here, we present a patient who was eventually diagnosed with malignant EPE by parietal pleural biopsy.

Bloody nipple discharge (BND) in infancy is an exceptionally rare finding. We report the cases of two children who are 9 and 29 months old. We report a 14-year-old girl with Alport's syndrome who developed bilateral exudative retinal detachment in the macula. With the development of chronic renal failure, bilateral serous retinal detachment appeared which had the retinal flecks characteristic of Alport's syndrome. The serous detachment was resolved and vision recovered following intensive hemodialysis. As far as we know this is the first case with documentation of the onset and resolution of serous retinal detachment in Alport's syndrome.

PURPOSE: To report that an unruptured arteriovenous malformation without hydrocephalus may manifest with bilateral optic disk edema and macular exudates.
METHODS: We examined an 11-year-old girl with an unruptured frontal lobe arteriovenous malformation who had decreased visual acuity, bilateral optic disk edema, and bilateral macular exudates.
