Solitary plasmacytoma of the bone is an uncommon variety of plasma cell tumour. Here an interesting case of solitary plasmacytoma of the skull bone, which is extremely rare, is being reported.

We report a black female with past history of sexual promiscuity who developed arthroosteitis of clavicula and sternoclavicular joint and cranial osteitis during secondary syphilis. Spirochaeta were identified in the material from osteoarticular biopsy. The patient was treated with benzathine penicillin, 2,400,000 U weekly for three weeks. There was a complete clinical recovery. A clinical series of 62 patients who underwent cranioplasty using a new quick-setting hydroxyapatite (HA) material was done over a 2-year period. The majority of procedures (69%) were performed for secondary reconstruction of frontal, temporal, and supraorbital deficiencies after primary repair of a craniosynostosis. McCune-Albright syndrome is characterized by a triad of café au lait macules, polyostotic fibrous dysplasia (FD), and endocrine abnormalities. We present the case of an 11-year-old female patient with tuberous sclerosis who had a right nasal mass. CT examination revealed fibrous dysplasia involving the frontal, ethmoid, sphenoid, and vomer bones. Biopsy findings of the mass confirmed this diagnosis, and follow-up revealed marked expansion of these lesions. The authors emphasize the association of bone abnormalities and tuberous sclerosis and discuss the consideration of fibrous dysplasia as a component of this syndrome.

Fronto-metaphyseal dysplasia (FMD) is an uncommon but clinically striking condition affecting bone and connective tissue. The terms used to define this syndrome fail to cover all the reported findings, the abnormalities not being confined to the metaphyses and to the frontal bones. We report on a patient who, in addition to the clinical manifestations characteristic of the syndrome, showed esophageal atresia with distal tracheoesophageal fistula. Particular emphasis is given to the extraskeletal manifestations of the syndrome reported in the literature.

A modified method of tibial bone-graft harvesting is presented. A hollow, cylindric, hand-driven instrument is used to harvest the graft at the medial slope of the tibial tuberosity. Satisfactory amounts of autogenous cancellous bone graft are available to bridge osteotomy gaps and facial fractures, fill smaller defects, and even obliterate a frontal sinus. There is minimal donor-site morbidity, and complications have not been seen in a series of nine consecutive patients.

The use of a new alloplastic biodegradable implant called BIOFIX made of polyglycolate is described. We used it to cover bone defects in maxillo-facial surgery, principally for orbital floor restoration and frontal sinus repair, with very good results. It is an excellent material of temporary support and guidance during the healing period and new bone formation. However, it will be necessary to wait for the results of a multicentric european study to confirm its superiority in maxillofacial surgery.

Frontonasal duct injury is a critical factor in the treatment of frontal sinus fractures. We present the case of a 43-year-old man who sustained multiple comminuted fractures of the anterior table of the frontal sinus and of the orbital roof as the result of a gunshot. After adequate debridement, the combined bone and soft tissue defect was reconstructed with a titanium mesh and a free radial forearm flap. The frontonasal duct injury was treated by surgical obliteration with a custom designed fascio-subcutaneous extension of the free radial forearm flap. The postoperative course was uneventful
