Nonulcer dyspepsia (NUD) is an enigmatic disorder which likely has heterogeneous etiologies. Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis has been identified in a large number of patients with NUD, raising speculation that chronic infection with this organism may cause dyspepsia in some patients. The injection anaesthetic propofol (Disoprivan) was used in 85 cats for performing gastroduodenoscopy. Anaesthesia and feasibility for executing endoscopy were evaluated. Two cats suffered from a transient (30 sec) respiratory arrest. In any other cases stable cardiovascular and acceptable respiratory conditions were observed. The endoscopy was easy to perform and no emesis was induced. Anaesthesia of the cat with propofol can be very well controlled. It is characterised by gentle induction and a recovery free from excitation.

Metastatic tumors to the mucosa of the stomach are unusual occurrences that can cause clinical and pathologic problems in diagnosis. The authors report 67 cases from the files of the Veterans Administration Center at Houston. Ten cases were found on endoscopic biopsy and 57 at necropsy. Each patient endoscopically evaluated presented with upper gastrointestinal tract symptoms, including bleeding, abdominal pain, anorexia, and vomiting. Experimental gastric ulcers were prepared in dogs after the method by Hatafuku and Thal, one at the subcardia and the other at the angular incisure, and healing of these two ulcers were compared.
