Perspectives of Private Practice Physical Therapy Health Care Systems Participating in a Pragmatic Clinical Trial: A Qualitative Study.

IMPORTANCE: The pragmatic clinical trial, Fibromyalgia TENS In Physical Therapy Study (FM-TIPS), includes 4 private practice physical therapy (PT) health care systems (HCS). Private practice HCS are the largest employers of physical therapists (43%) in the United States. This novel study shares the perspectives of the 4 private practice PT-HCS in the clinical trial - as most clinical research is completed at academic centers. These results may benefit both clinicians and researchers considering inclusion of physical therapy from non-academic settings in research. OBJECTIVES: This study shares

Absence of practice effects in preclinical Alzheimer's disease.

OBJECTIVE: To describe how practice effects influence cognitive trajectories and determine if a reduction in practice effects is a potential marker of Stage-III preclinical Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHOD: Participants included 263 older adults who were cognitively normal at baseline (i.e., had a Clinical Dementia Rating [CDR] of 0; Morris, 1993) and returned for an average of 9.5 annual visits. Participants completed standard tests of episodic memory, visuospatial ability, semantic memory, and executive function. Progressors (n = 66) converted to CDR > 0 with a diagnosis of symptomatic AD a

Repeat prescribing policy in New Zealand general practice: making it better.

INTRODUCTION Repeat prescribing is common in New Zealand general practice. Research also suggests that repeat prescribing is a process prone to error. All New Zealand general practices have to comply with requirements to have a repeat prescribing policy, with the details of the policy to be designed by the practice. AIM To inform the development of practice policy, research was undertaken with experienced general practitioners to identify and mitigate risk in the process. METHODS At the 2019 annual conference of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, a workshop was held with 5

Supporting practitioner research in speech and language therapy.

This paper discusses the characteristics of action research and promotes its potential for speech and language therapists. Action research is an approach which involves the practitioner and has as its purpose the improvement of practice. Small-scale studies by practitioners can be used to examine practical applications and implications of larger-scale studies. A group of therapists, motivated by a wish to investigate their own practice, proposed the development of a group to support their work, facilitated by the author.

Understanding Behavioural Determinants of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke Prevention Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities: A Qualitative Descriptive Study.

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke disproportionately affect culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. In Australia, CALD describes communities that differ from the dominant population by language, ethnicity and/or cultural beliefs and practices. CALD status often intersects with social disadvantage, including lower socioeconomic position, experiences of discrimination and reduced access to culturally safe health services, contributing to inequities in cardiovascular risk and outcomes. Understanding how these factors influence engagement in CVD and stroke preve

Exploring Somali-born women's experiences with contraceptive services in Sweden through a reproductive justice lens.

Timely and equitable access to contraceptive services is a key component of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Evidence shows that immigrant women in high-income countries often receive inadequate contraceptive counselling. There is also limited knowledge about how contraceptive services can best be organised within health systems to meet their needs. In Sweden, the Somali population is one of the country's largest immigrant groups, facing a higher risk of adverse pregnancy and childbirth outcomes compared to Swedish-born women. This study aimed to gain a deeper understanding of Somali

Reframing vaccine narrative: a co-production study of a media campaign intervention to address childhood vaccine hesitancy among Nigerian parents and caregivers.

INTRODUCTION: Childhood vaccine hesitancy is a public health concern. Nigeria is one of the countries with the highest rates of zero-dose childhood vaccination. This study makes an original contribution by adopting a co-production approach underpinned by interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) to meaningfully inform the co-production of a media campaign intervention with Nigerian parents/ caregivers whose child(ren) are not, or only partially, up to date with routine immunizations aimed at reducing childhood vaccine hesitancy and promoting uptake. METHODS: A total of 10 parents or care

The impact of comprehensive training on safe cesarean delivery on non-physician surgeons' knowledge in Tigray, Ethiopia: a pre- and post-test embedded mixed-methods study.

BACKGROUND: In Ethiopia, non-physician surgeons, such as Integrated Emergency Surgical Officers (IESOs) and MSc Clinical Midwives, provide critical comprehensive emergency obstetric and surgical care in areas, where physician shortages persist. Although task shifting has improved access to maternal healthcare services in many low-resource settings, maternal and newborn mortality remain high, particularly in the conflict-affected Tigray region. This study aimed to assess the impact of a comprehensive training program on safe cesarean delivery, essential newborn care, and obstetric anesthesia on
